How To Keep Your Resolutions and Reach Your Goals. Pitching to Employees.

0
0

Another year has flown by and here you are at the beginning of another year. This is a time when many people assess their life and make "new year resolutions" or set goals for the New Year. Sometimes they are the exact same resolutions as last year!! Did you make some of these?

I will:

* Lose weight, get into shape, and exercise more
* Spend more time with my family
* Stress less & relax more
* Get more sleep
* Save money
* Change jobs
* Be happy

If any of these resolutions sound familiar this is because these are some of the most popular resolutions made each year according to "How To Keep Your New Years Resolution.com"

The Oxford Dictionary definition of resolution is to decide firmly or have great determination, but most people are lucky if their resolution is kept until the end of their holidays. It's no wonder many people find themselves making the exact same resolutions the next year. So how can you be successful in sticking to a resolution or successfully achieve any goal?

FIRSTLY...work on one thing at a time.

Resolutions - Changing From the Inside Out
Goals or resolutions involve change and sometimes it's easier to give up and sink back into our old life patterns than stick to change. So only do one thing at a time or you may be tempted to give up!

SECONDLY...PLAN..PLAN..PLAN..you've heard the saying "People who fail to plan, plan to fail." Think about your goal. WRITE IT DOWN!!!! Put it where you will see it everyday. Set a start date. Develop a strategy. Write a list of points to help you reach your goal-break it down into manageable pieces and tackle it one piece at a time.

THIRDLY...Prepare for those obstacles that you know will come up.

You know what I mean-if you have decided to lose 10kg you know someone will bring a chocolate cake to work on the first day of your diet. So think about what obstacles will come up and a plan to tackle each one. If you slip up-don't let this make you totally give up. See it as one step back among all the steps you have taken and will take forward!!!! Remember to reward yourself for every step forward you do take-this will keep you in action and motivated.

LASTLY......GET SUPPORT...this is a must. It's much easier to stay in action if you feel supported and also accountable to someone. You could buddy up with a friend or relative (as long as you are definitely sure they will support you). Or for unbiased support chose a Personal Life Coach to keep you motivated and in action.

The senior flight attendant on the WestJet flight was starting the routine safety talk: the bit about flotation vests and emergency exits that we ignore at the beginning of every flight.

"If we could have your attention, please, we would appreciate it - in fact we'd be downright shocked," she said. The passengers and the rest of the crew laughed along with her and then, having captured our attention, she went on with her instructions.

That event, on my second flight with the airline, may have been the point when I became a fan of this upstart, discount carrier. The flight attendant's small joke was just one of many good-spirited remarks I heard from station staff and cabin crews.

Guess what? I like travelling with people who enjoy their work. And that point is made, too, by Lance Secretan in an IndustryWeek article (May 15, 2000) that argues employees should be treated as well as customers.

Using Southwest Airlines as his example (and WestJet modeled itself on Southwest), Secretan says management needs to put the same commitment and resources into internal marketing to employees that it puts into external marketing to customers.

That's not an unreasonable idea, considering that companies sometimes have to fight harder to get and keep good employees than to get and keep customers. Put another way, can you serve customers well if you don't have good employees? And, don't forget the maxim that employees treat customers like they're treated by management.

So, if we were going to build an internal marketing program for employees, where would we start? What would we do? How would we do it?

Well, we'd probably start in much the same way that we start with external customers: by finding out what they wanted. By identifying the benefits that they consider most important, and communicating about those benefits.

As we articulate our reasons for internal marketing (setting objectives), as we figure out the goals of employees, and identify the best medium, we're setting out a communication strategy.

Once we have a strategy we can go on to the tactics, which outline how we will implement the strategy: what will we discuss, how often we'll discuss it, and what presentation style we'll use.

What we'll discuss refers to our subject matter; how often refers to the number of times in a specified time period that we will communicate the subject matter, and presentation style refers to the tone we'll take in sending our messages.

Once both the strategy and tactics are in place, we act. We implement the plan. And good internal marketing, like external marketing, would involve gathering feedback afterward.

In the case of external customers, feedback is immediate and obvious; they buy or they don't buy. When we turn to internal customers, though, the feedback will be less obvious. In general, though, we will have set objectives based on having employees do certain things; in the feedback phase we can ask whether they did it, and how well, and how often.

In summary, to get and keep good employees, cater to them as you would to important customers, through internal marketing.

Creative Ways to Decorate Your Walls. The Options For Regime Change In Iran.

0
0

Moving into a new house can sometimes cause a quandry. You can stand and stare at large... blank spaces for weeks wondering just what to do with them. These blank spaces are the walls of your new house or apartment.

Most people have a hard time figuring out what to do with their walls, because their thoughts are limited to just paint and pictures. There's actually quite a bit more you can do to decorate your walls though, and here are a few of my favorite tips:

1. Create shadow boxes. These are especially nice to do as remembrances of loved ones who are no longer with us. If you want to create a shadow box for grandparents for instance, but you don't have anything handed down from them that could easily be used in this decoration, try visiting around to yard sales and flea markets. Find items that fit the timeframe of your grandparent's lives, or that remind you of them fondly. Use these items in your shadow boxes, then display them in a nice area of your home to symbolize both the love you had for them, and the legacy they left behind.

22-->2. If you love blankets or quilts, there are some very unique ways to decorate your walls with these. Simply attach pieces of wood to your wall, drill holes in them, and put dowel rods in the holes. On these rods you can hang your quilts or blankets just like you can on a regular quilt rack, except this way they decorate your walls. Placing the items just above a sofa is a great way to keep blankets nearby when you watch movies or snuggle up next to the fire. Also, if you enjoy quilting or sewing, you may want to use a similar structure on the wall to hold bolts of fabric for your creations. The walls look lovely, and you're also organizing your home!

3. Here are just a few other ideas: You can use old windows and some curtains to make a faux window in a room without enough windows. Your can use old picture frames to "frame" an oil painting or collage or quotations. Using small vases, you can have fresh flowers hanging on your wall. You could also make part of your wall into corkboard or a set of box frames so that you can display your children's artwork.

So there you have multiple, easy, and inexpensive ways to uniquely decorate your walls!

If recent speeches by US officials on Iran's plans to become a nuclear power can be seen as part of a build-up to a possible US-evoked regime change in Iran, the intelligence behind it is at once scant and abundant. Whatever the real official US policy toward Iran is aiming for exactly is hard to get clear, but it is noteworthy that off late, US officials have stepped up their campaign of Iran criticism.

Cautious remarks made by Porter J. Goss, the new head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) drives home the bleak truth to US policy makers that CIA intelligence on Iran is as yet rather insubstantial. They form a stark contrast to last week's torrent of factual information launched by a major figurehead of the UN anti-nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Despite the scant official intelligence about Iran's nuclear status, last week's revelation by the IAEA that the country lied about the date it ended plutonium experiments has been among the most damning information to transpire from the country so far. Apparently, the tests to create the nuclear weapon grade material, did not cease in 1993, as Iranians had told the inspectors, but only five years later on, in 1998. It was instantly taken as confirmation by the US Bush administration that Iran is aiming to become a nuclear weapon capability.

The event coincided with Iran's presidential elections, which the Bush administration condemned strongly the eve before. It said last Thursday that the exercise was illegitimate and tilted to favor the ruling Islamic mullahs in Tehran. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was exceptionally condemning, saying Iran was choking off political freedom just as other Middle East countries were exploring greater openness. "I can't see how one considers that, quote, a legitimate election," Rice was quoted by Reuters. President Bush himself made similar remarks, calling the elections designed to keep power in the hands of a few rulers "through an electoral process that ignores the basic requirements of democracy."

Oddly, the two have been praising Egypt's elections as a step toward greater democracy, which are the subject of similar criticism from many international and national observers. The comments are taken very seriously however by Iran's top politicians. Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi called on US President George W Bush to apologize.

All the shouting sounds remarkably similar to the Iraq situation prior to 9/11. Should a pre-emptive strike on Iran be launched any time soon, you don't have to look hard to find out how the scenario might be unfolding even as of now. Matching the recent comments by the Bush administration and a February study by the Iran Policy Committee which recommends a regime change come what may, you'd start to believe that plans to this effect are well underway. The members of the Iran Policy Committee include former civilian and military officials and attracted around 80 members of congress when they presented their document (www.iranpolicycommittee.org).

The aim of the game should be to -in the report's wording- 'recall the nuclear time clock that is ticking down as Iran drives to reach nuclear weapons capability'.

The policy committee cites three recommended strategies, the most controversial of which is to remove the former Mujahideen from the list of terrorist groups and give it back its arsenal of over 2,000 tanks and armored vehicles, which the US troops confiscated of it in Iraq, having first bombed the fighters to appease Iran. The second proposal is to carry out a precision bombardment in order to disable the country's nuclear facility. Lastly, to topple the Iranian clerics, the report cites continued negotiations to get Iran to abandon its program. "These options are neither mutually exclusive nor logically exhaustive; but they do reflect courses of action being considered in Washington", the writers say. None of the politicians themselves have admitted this much, but it's widely believed that the Iranian issue is seen as posing a direct threat to national security interests.

Over the last few months, Iran has been playing the international PR card cleverly. It even consented for a second time to demands by EU negotiators that it stop its developments of nuclear energy and enable more inspections by IAEA agents. And in contrast to the US-Iran relationship, the EU has booked significant progress in its Iranian negotiations. Having managed to get Iran to halt developments for another time span of six months, Brussels officials were quoted as saying they are "ready to continue looking into ways of further developing political and economic cooperation with Iran."

It will be interesting to see how the US will padd out its Iran policies around this. If Iran is playing the cat and mouse game that Saddam Hussein played, it employs way different tactics and it will likely be difficult for the US to engage in a full blown row over anything substantial. Even the recent discrepancies revealed by the IAEA were commented on by the pragmatic Akhbar Ali Hashemi Rafsanjani, the tipped winner of the Presidential elections, as an issue his regime would be able to work on with the international community. Outsmarting the Iranian regime will likely prove more difficult than getting into hot water with Saddam, that's for sure.

This likely drives frustration levels high and this might just be something that the US officials won't take for too long. "[...] diplomacy pursued by the Europeans and several U.S.administrations has produced little tangible result over the past quarter century. And unless the potential for UN Security Council sanctions is on the table, diplomacy is likely to yield few results in the future", according to the Iran policy committee report writers.

Intelligence gathering is full swing underway from many sides. The National Intelligence Council, which produces the estimates and reports to the CIA's Goss, is expected this spring to circulate a classified update that will focus on Iran and its weapons. The Senate Intelligence Committee has also begun its own review into the quality of intelligence on Iran in an effort to prevent similar mistakes as the ones made in Iraq.

"If the regime continues to prove intransigent with respect to fulfilling its obligations under the NPT, the international community may not have the luxury of pursuing only a regime change policy", the IPC report states as the rationale for any sane policy toward Iran. This is what sold the war on Iraq partially. Yet the intelligence that's gathered on the country needs to be highly specific if the government is not to make the same mistake. The statement that 'The theocratic leadership in Tehran must know that they will not be permitted to achieve a nuclear bomb status' which follows on from the urge that the nuclear time clock ought to be removed, is simply hardly going to do much for the US population.

The military action the committee proposes is not as full blown as the invasion into Iraq, but is recommended to involve a limited number of high precision military strikes, aimed at destabilising confidence in the nation's rulers and destroying its nuclear sites. "The moderate action option that includes limited military strikes would at best buy time while leaving intact or even enhancing the overall threat of the regime in areas like terrorism, opposition to the Arab-Israel peace process, and involvement in Iraq. Nevertheless, limited, precision military strikes, executed according to high quality targeting information with minimal collateral damage and casualties might not only set back Iran's nuclear program to a significant degree but likely would also help destabilize the regime", according to the report. President Bush has on repeated occasions said it would be ridiculous to assume the US government is planning to attack Iran, yet he's also not excluded it, saying 'all options are on the table'.

Last week's report by the IAEA revealed the status of some key items of contention between Iran and the inspectors. In short, the report has been highly damaging to the Iranian position internationally. In it, proof was shown of Iran not only admitting to misleading IAEA inspectors over the end date of its experiments with plutonium, but the speech by the IAEA's deputy director Pierre Goldschmidt to the agency's board of governors revealed also that Iran had acquired sensitive technology that could be used to make nuclear weapons earlier than it originally stated.

In an immediate reaction to the report, US Ambassador to the IAEA, Jackie Sanders, issued a written statement to the same board about Iran's failure to provide information on certain key points. She said that it was "evident that Iran has not 'come clean' about its past or present nuclear activities, and that it continues to deny requested IAEA access to people, places and information."

Sanders represents the US State Department, calling for strict treatment of Iran, also on the basis of the last two decades' worth of breaches of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty. Most of the basis for any action by the US or the UN Security Council against Iraq will have to come from the report by the agency's inspectors. Aside from the erroneous plutonium enrichment dating, the report mentions these faults:

- Iran has only provided the inspectors with a one page document on the clandestine international network that reportedly sold it enrichment-related technology. It says it cannot provide the original documentation purporting to this deal. The inspectors believe that the offer that the network made to Iran in 1987 was inclusive of some very sensitive technology, including uranium re-conversion and casting, which could be used to convert HEU [highly enriched uranium] into metal.

-

Apparently, the clandestine procurement network delivered the country the same documentation, known as P-1, to the sensitive technologies once again in 1994. There has been no real answer as to why this happened twice and the suspicion is that -given an absence of information on the dealings between Iran and the network during the years 1987 to 1993- that the information was needed for a second site somewhere in Iran. "Only the provision by Iran of further documentation and access to the IAEA can answer these questions", according to Goldschmidt.

- The information information to the IAEA, this time with regard to the dates of shipment of centrifuge bellows to Iran was also erroneously dated. These bellows were shipped in 1994 and 1995, but originally Iran claimed they were shipped in 1997. The centrifuge issue has been an issue of misleading information before, according to the inspectors, who are now saying that Iran might be hiding something.

- Iran refuses to hand over documentation regarding its what's termed 'unusual' management of the previously-secret Gchine uranium mine and mill. The IAEA has raised the interesting question of why the AEOI suspended its work at Gchine between 1994 and 2000 to focus on the much less promising Saghand mine. Was any other Iranian entity working the Gchine mine during that period, the inspectors wonder.

- The status of Iran's efforts to construct deep underground storage tunnels at Esfahan for future storage of nuclear materials is also not been declared in a timely manner, as required by its Subsidiary Arrangements.

- The inspectors were not allowed access to the Parchin high-explosive facility. "If the IAEA continues to have suspicions about that facility related either to Iran's safeguards obligations or its suspension commitments, we believe Iran must -- to be in compliance with its obligations -- provide it", according to Goldschmidt.

- Iran has continued to defy the Board's request to cease its efforts to build the heavy water research reactor. Such a reactor is unnecessary from a technical standpoint, given that Iran's existing research reactor is reportedly under-utilized. A heavy water research reactor, once completed and operating, would give Iran a dangerous "break-out capability" to produce weapons-grade plutonium.

Iranian officials in reactions to the news media denied not being collaborative with the international inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency. "It's possible that at times, Iran has not reported its activities," Mr Rafsanjani was heard saying on a BBC's Newsnight television programme last week. He also retorted to attempts by President Bush to speak directly to the Iranian population, saying that Iranians who were dissatisfied with the political process in the country should be free to speak their minds. "If they have reasonable points, we should accept them," he told the BBC. "If not, we should persuade them of our case."

For the time being, this might redress the disbalance that the IAEA's findings have caused. There are no direct talks between the US and Iran, but this does not mean that the US is not involved in the diplomatic efforts from countries like the EU to try to dissuade the country from its atomic path. The US is backing the EU-Iranian tri-partite talks and this way has been offering Iran on a diplomatic level better chances of access to the WTO. Iran, which has admitted it feels encircled by Western (US) forces and is mostly disturbed by the presence of troops in its neighboring Iraq, has not made it a secret it wishes to see Iraqis lead their own lives without US troops in the country. The rhetoric of course a brilliantly close copy of the US leader's words spoken to the Iranian population a few months hence. The official US line was transcribed by Sanders in her document in strict terms however. Citing a "confidence deficit" created by Iran's lack of full cooperation she says this has not been restored. "This [..] deficit stands in stark contrast to the growing international consensus that, in light of two decades of Iranian safeguards breaches relating to the most sensitive aspects of the fuel cycle, two decades of systematic effort by Iran to conceal those violations, and continuing denial by Iran of full information and cooperation to the IAEA, the only acceptable outcome is for Iran to cease and dismantle all nuclear fuel cycle activities."

Whether the whole situation is going to come to blows of course

is to a big extent dependent on the US interpretation of the events in Iran, the Iranian collaboration to the IAEA and the role the EU plays in the near future. The chances the US faces if it succeeds to get the Iranians referred to the Security Council, the most logical next step if it gets support from other countries, are not altogether good. Even if other countries support the move, there is the option that China or Russia might block action against the country. Russia has agreed to supply the Iranians with uranium that it can enrich in a matter of six months, cutting significantly short the time span of seven years that the Iranians were estimated to need to get the material needed also in weapons.

Chances the US spin doctoring stand to whet the Iranian populace's appetite for regime change by altogether pieceful means are even more remote. Domestic Iranians are said to be more staunchly united than the Iraqis in their dissent for American values. They believe that if their nuclear capacity becomes a tangible item of contention on the international scene, what is likely to happen is that yet again the divide between the developing world and the Western world is highlighted. And they are right.

This pretty much leaves open the military strike option and support for insurgencies by means of (open or secret) support for the Mujahideen. Which the US policy makers will likely not opt for either simply because it will likely not work out all that much immediately, despite the no doubt viciousness of the warfare that would emerge against the regime in Tehran. The Mujahideen fought side by side with the incumbent mullahs to overthrow the Shah in 1979 and then was ousted, a move that went accompanied by the killing of over 1,000 of these fighters.

7 Ways to Jump Start Your Cold Calls. Why Your Talents Alone Aren't Getting You Anywhere Online.

0

Cold calling has to be one of the most feared aspects of every sales person's and business owner's day. With some important key tips, you can make cold calling painless and enjoyable and as easy as calling a friend.

Here are 7 key ways to jump start your cold calls:

1. Research Your Market

Before you start your cold calls it's important that you be prepared so your prospect feels you really do understand their situation. Research the company you are calling, identify what issues they are having based on your other clients in their same industry and ask others in your company the main reasons why people buy your product or service.

The better prepared you are about discussing you prospect's issues, the easier it will be to allow the conversation to flourish.

2. Change Your Mental Expectations

Traditional selling has always taught us that our main goal of the cold call should be an appointment or a sale. With that mental focus, what happens is our mind is focused on the end goal before we even have a conversation with the person we are calling.

This creates a major conflict because you will be trying very hard not to use words that make you sound like all you care about is the sale. And even more importantly, if your prospect senses you are focusing on the appointment or sale, they will immediately be defensive.

So what to do? Change your mental expectations to focus on building a conversation first and then once you have generated a good dialogue, you can then determine if you are a fit or not with your prospect.

Be careful not to mentally "jump the gun".

3. Understand Your Prospect

Take a few minutes to think about your focus of your call. Think about how you are going to approach the conversation. Put yourself in the mind of your prospect.

How would you want to be approached? Certainly the last thing you want to hear is a sales pitch from someone you don't know.

Instead, begin the conversation diffusing any mystery as to who you are with "Hi, my name is Jim and you and I haven't met yet". This removes the mystery of who you are and allows you to begin talking about how you can help them solve a problem, rather than you having to default to a sales pitch.

Think before you speak.

4. Build Trust Through Conversation

Learning to build conversation is the key to cold calling success. Engaging in a conversation should be as natural as calling a friend. Your objective is to build trust on your call so that your prospect feels comfortable conversing with you rather than trying to focus on getting you off the phone.

How do you build trust? You build trust by removing any elements in your approach that connect you to the negative "salesperson" stereotype.

5. Ask A Question

Begin your cold call with "Hi my name is John, maybe you can help me out for a moment?"

Yes, that's really all you have to begin with because in the next few seconds you will hear "How can I help you". That is how you can build a two-way dialogue rather than having a one-way talk.

The truth is you are asking for help because you don't know if you can help them yet, right? Until you have the information you need about their situation, you can't determine if you are a fit or not.

6. Eliminate Pressure

Pressure is the main reason most cold calls turn into a negative rejection-filled experience. It doesn't have to be that way.

If you can become aware of things you are doing that is triggering pressure on your prospects, you can turn cold calling into a very productive and enjoyable experience.

The key is to never force your sales pitch, engage only in a natural conversation, and most importantly let your prospect talk. By doing all three you will eliminate pressure from the call and your prospect will be more open to the idea of what you have to offer.

7. Learn To Determine A Fit

So how do you know if your prospect is a fit with what you have to offer? You need to ask them this question towards the end of your problem solving discussion "Is solving your problem a top priority or something that is on the back burner for now?"

By determining the answer to this question, you can see if you can decide if your prospect is worth pursuing or not. You will also be able to determine their time frame which helps you better adjust your expectations.

Make no mistake about it, if you really want to be successful cold calling you'll need to let go of traditional sales thinking. Try these 7 strategies and watch how cold calling can be fun and productive.

The bottom line is that there are plenty of really talented people out there who will never be heard from because they don't understand even the most basic principles of marketing. Marketing isn't often taught in Fine Arts courses because the instructors, by nature, are better at teaching the craft than they are at marketing themselves in the craft. Most marketing experts haven't fine tuned their artistic talents enough to have a product worth marketing.

So the good news is that it is easier for a talented artist to learn the principles of excellence in marketing ideas and services than it is for a marketing genius to develop the passion and skill sets needed to produce good and, sometimes, great art.

Your website looks good and is ready to be shown to the public but now you'll have to begin your marketing phase.

The first thing you'll want to do is start writing internet articles...for free! They don't have to be long or profound, they just have to be written well, stay on subject, be controversial and have great titles that search engines will latch onto and deliver people into your funnel.

Go to http://ezinearticles.com, sign up for a free membership and start writing short articles about what you're interested in. Also, make sure the meta tags on each page of your website have 101 keywords and phrases to attract search engines. Also, make sure that you have a text table of contents on each page of your website as well as the cool flash buttons. Make sure every page has a title and that you register your site with http://dmoz.com.

Next, start a blog at http://blogger.com (it's free) and start blogging about your subject and your art. Talk about which phases your

are in certain projects and make sure to include plenty of juicy tips and advice for people interested in art (do you see that you are truly building your online brand into an expertise here?).

Next, go to http://aweber.com and sign up for a newsletter database subscription ($20 a month). Put forms and links on all of your websites and send an initial message to your warm e-mail market to join your subscription list. Send a weekly newsletter to your subscribers-keep them entertained and keep them interested and with patience and time your audience will grow into thousands. These thousands know tens of thousands and this circle of hundreds of thousands of possibilities will keep you working for the rest of your life if you choose to work that long.

Beyond this, there is pay-per-click advertising you search out proper keywords and buy time with them in certain search engines as well as affiliate programs where other people market your services for you and you give them a percentage of whatever business they bring. But let's focus on the cheaper foundation first.

This is a guaranteed method of success if you are willing to put the time into it and you must first decide whether you want to go all the way or not because success and happiness begin at the crown of the head where spirit meets mind meets body. Success or failure is a choice we make each moment and determine the nature of our experience of reality. I have been extremely impressed with your talent and with your professionalism in our exchanges so far-I believe in you and in your future and I am willing to invest my time and limited resources (for now at least) into helping you achieve. But all that doesn't matter if you haven't invested yourself and your success 100%.

There is no going back from here, my friend. Onward and upward!

Are Rubies Your Gem Stone?. Steam Bath or Sauna - Which Is Better?.

0
0

Rubies have long been thought to have healing properties in treating both the blood and matters of the heart. When you say the word ruby you immediately visualize the colorful images of this stone, as well as an emotional response of passion, romance, and power.

Yes that's the power and the beauty of a ruby! The deep rich color of the ruby ranges from fiery orange red to deep purple red.

This rare gem is one of the most expensive gems and one of the most sought after.

The ruby has a history steeped in mystery and medicine. For centuries it has been used to cure and protect. Ancient cultures believed the ruby could cure ailments of the digestive system, energize the blood, and treat the heart. Warriors wore the ruby into battle because of its protective qualities.

The ruby as a gemstone for jewelry has a very interesting history. The crown of Charles IV of Luxembourg from the 1300s held a gem quality ruby that was a whopping 250 carats. The Smithsonian is home to a 137 carat cabochon star ruby.

The most expensive ruby ever sold at auction was a 15.97 carat stone that sold for $3.63 million in 1988. No matter their size or value all can agree that the ruby is a powerfully beautiful gem.

If you are in the market to buy a ruby [rubies] you should buy the best quality gem you can afford. Don't go for size go for quality. You'll not be disappointed. Rubies are treated with heat to enhance their color. Look for rubies that are a deep fiery red with not too much purple hue.

The more visible purple the less the value. Almost all quality rubies have inclusions, although they will not be visible to the naked eye, so you'll need to examine under a loope. When purchasing your ruby look for a clear stone with few inclusions.

If you have to choose between good color and more inclusions or poor color and few inclusions go for the "best color. The cut of the ruby is important. A good cut will make the ruby look like it is glowing with a deep fire. Inspect the stone under good lighting to ensure there are no chips or scratches.

The different geographical sources of the ruby each produce specific characteristics, colors, and qualities. Burma is famous for producing the greatest amount of top quality rubies in a fine, clear, deep red.

Burma is the most important source of rubies today. Thailand is known for dark red to brownish rubies. Ceylon [Sri Lanka] is known for medium to light rubies.

Africa is known for small purplish red stones. The ruby is steeped in history. Ruby is July's birthstone and is named the King of Gems. It's history is recorded as far back as the Bible and ancient Sanskrit writings. The name ruby is derived from the Latin word for red - rubrum. It is the sister to the sapphire from the corundum family which is a crystal structure composed of aluminum oxide.

Red corundum is called ruby. All other colors are part of the sapphire family. Ruby is the most valuable member of the corundum family. In fact large rubies have been known to bring more at auction than the most flawless diamonds. This is because of the rarity of gem quality ruby stone.

If you are in the market for a ruby be certain to follow the guidelines provided in this article. Rubies are also being grown in a laboratory and are becoming available in the market in limited quantities.

These grown rubies are of identical composition, hardness, and brilliance to natural rubies. Synthetic rubies are also available for a fraction of the cost. So for those of us with more limited pocket books we may have to look at purchasing a synthetic or lab grown ruby. No one can dispute the beauty and mystery of the beautiful ruby gem stone!

There is sometimes confusion between the terms 'steam bath' and 'sauna.' Many people think they refer to the same thing. Not so. Even though they both are hot baths, one uses dry heat while the other uses moist heat.

There is confusion among the vast majority of people in the world. So we would like to help clear up the confusion. While both offer many health benefits there is a major differences. Health benefits include losing weight, cleansing the body of toxins, lowering cholesterol, relieving the symptoms of arthritis and treating respiratory problems like bronchitis and laryngitis. Sounds like a miracle cure, doesn't it? Some of these claims may be exaggerated, but others may have sound scientific foundations. Let's take a closer look

The sauna has very low humidity. This means it can be much hotter than a steam bath. Saunas are usually between 80½C and 100½C while a steam bath is usually about 40½C. If the steam bath was any hotter than this it could scald the skin, but the dry heat of the sauna is safe.

Saunas are heated with stones placed on some kind of heater -- usually electric or wood-burning. From time to time, water is poured on the stones that produce a thick cloud of steam. This has the effect of raising the temperature in the sauna by several degrees, but the steam quickly dissipates.

A steam generator, on the other hand, heats steam baths. The steam is fed into the almost airtight room where it builds up to create humidity level of around 100%.

The different type of heat determines the type of materials that each can be made of. Saunas are usually wood-lined and have wooden benches to sit on. They are insulated to retain the heat but there is no concern about moisture damage to the outside structure.

Steam baths need to be made to contain the moisture created by the steam. They are usually finished in ceramic tile and the ceiling must be slanted so that the steam buildup does not drip from the ceiling onto the bathers.

Advantages / Disadvantages

Both have therapeutic benefits. They are good for blood circulation and can cleanse and rejuvenate the skin through heavy perspiration. They are good for easing muscle tension and promoting feelings of relaxation and well-being.

Some people find the dry heat of the sauna to be uncomfortable to breathe. Those with respiratory problems like sinus congestion and asthma may prefer the moist heat of the steam bath. Steam inhalation is often used for treating bronchitis, sinusitis and allergies so people with these conditions may benefit from steam baths.

If you are thinking of installing either in your home, there are several considerations to keep in mind. Generally speaking, saunas are easier to build and require less material and labor than a steam bath. You can buy self-enclosed steam baths, however, which can be easily installed in any bathroom. These cut down on construction and installation costs.

Both types of bath can be installed in a small space. Pre-built saunas can be placed in a bedroom or basement and can be put together in less than half an hour. Steam bath enclosures are usually installed in a bathroom and require the services of a plumber to connect the steam generator.

If you plan on converting an existing bathroom into a steam bath, all the walls and ceilings of the bathroom must be finished with a material like ceramic tile to prevent moisture from escaping. The room has to be airtight with only a small opening at the bottom of the door to allow a fresh air intake.

Maintenance

Both require relatively little maintenance. The steam bath simply needs to be washed with a ceramic tile cleaner once a week or so, and the sauna can be vacuumed or swept out occasionally. The natural wood of the sauna can become stained after a while, but the stains can be removed with light sanding or by washing the wood with an acidic solution.

3 Steps to Personal Financial Success - Part I: Goal Setting. In Sales You Get What You Expect.

Financial Success - A Definition

What is your definition of financial success? For many of us it means different things. And for most people, it is a vague definition with out a set number or desired result. Most people declare that they want to be "rich" or have enough money so that they don't have to work.

Well, what is that number? What is rich to you? What steps have you outlined to reach this goal? Your definition of financial success should be a personal definition, not some generic definition that someone created in general. But, if you cannot think of one on your own, a generic definition may be a good place to start. That being said, here is my personal definition that my wife and I decided on:

Financial success - the ability to be able to pay bills without worry, be free of debt, help others with our time and financial resources, save our children's college tuition/trust funds saved in the amounts of (amounts here), and are on track with our savings plan to have saved the money we want to have by (our date here).

Pretty lengthy definition huh? Well, one of the most important things for being a success in anything is clarity. If you are single, you must be clear as to what it is you are trying to accomplish for yourself. If you are married, you must both be clear on what it is you want together, as well as individually, and put a game plan together to begin, gauge, and accomplish your goals.

Step 1 - Establish Clearly Defined Financial Goals

In order for you to reach a destination, you must be able to see where you are going. Have you ever tried swimming through mud? It would be very hard to do. In addition, you wouldn't be able to see where you are going and the frustration would probably lower your determination and you would give up. If you don't have financial goals set, this is exactly what you are doing.

Why do this if you don't have to? Clearly Defined Financial Goals allow you to see where you are, where you are going, and gives you a way to track your progress. Imagine swimming in the clear waters off the coast of Bermuda - able to see the underwater life and go exactly where you want to go. You can see the dangers and avoid them. If you get off course, you can see where you came from and adjust your direction. Goals in any part of your life give you this power.

How to Set Financial Goals - Short Term

So how do you go about setting financial goals? I'm glad you asked! Setting short-term goals is important because they help you achieve your long-term goals. You can set short-term goals that look something like this:

  • I will save $600 by June 2005, starting now, by putting away $100 a month. I will have it automatically drafted.
  • I will drink only 1 soda a day starting today, instead of three, and save the difference in a Money Market account with (Name of Company) from (today's date) to (1 year from today's date).
  • I will save $5000 this year in my Mutual Fund account with (Name of Company) by having $208.50 drafted bi-weekly from my pay.

These short-term goals answer the questions who, what, when, where, and how. Do your goals do this? It may be time to revamp. I can't stress enough the importance of clarity. Without clarity, your action will be more so inaction than progress.

How to Set Financial Goals - Long Term

For long-term goals, you want to be just as clear. As a matter of fact, your long-term goals will follow the same format, but will have dates that are further in the future. For example:

  • I will have saved $500,000 by my 55th birthday by setting aside ($ set number of dollars) for (set number of years) by having it automatically drafted into a Roth IRA with (Name of Company).
  • On September 5th, 2020 I will have saved ($ set number) for my child's tuition / trust fund by having ($ set number of dollars) drafted from my paycheck bi-weekly.

The short-term goals that my wife and I have set put us in sync with our long-term goals and our definition. The greatest part about all of this is - if our thinking changes about our future plans, we can make adjustments and continue the course.

I am confident that the first part of this series is helpful to you, or has at least put you back on track to your financial goal. Stay tuned for 3 Steps to Personal Financial Success - Part II: Budgeting.

If your mind is set, you will be unable to change your mindset. For example Christopher Columbus...

He was born in 1451 in Genoa, the son of a wool merchant and weaver. Do you recall what the conventional thinking or "Mindset" was about the shape of the globe at that time? It was believed to be flat. Not too many sailors sailed too far from shore fearing the worst. Columbus' mind was set. It was set for taking risks and exploring new worlds.

Columbus discovered the New World on October 12, 1492 at 2:00 a.m. He changed his Mindset and we're still celebrating his courage, boldness, and discoveries.

How you think is everything. For example - where are the obvious places to look for new prospects for the products and services you sell? Make a list and go ask one of your competitors to do the same thing. Now compare lists. Hello - exactly the same. Surprise - surprise!

Now make another list and don't tell your competition about this one. Make a list of all the un-obvious places you can go to find qualified prospects. Remember this is an un-obvious list and it requires a new and different mindset. It ain't easy but it is good. It isn't quick but it can be profitable for you. But first, you gotta remove the shackles on your conventional thinking.

You'll get what you expect - so always expect the best to happen to you. Always be positive and expect the best. Only one person has the keys to your thoughts - you. Put a lid on all negative thinking. If it's negative it's usually related to a past experience.

There are three houses you can choose to live in past, present, and future. You can toss away the keys to the past and future houses. You can't live there so there's no reason for you to spend any time thinking about them.

Put all your energy in the house called "Present or Today." When you wake up in the morning and don't see your name in the obituary column, consider yourself lucky and do everything to make today a "Masterpiece."

Expect the best in these situations:

1. You're calling on your competitor's best customer. Expect them to be receptive to your new ideas. Expect them to give you 1% of the business because they're willing to see if you can earn even more.

2. You have an appointment with Charley Discount who enjoys beating salespeople up on their prices. Expect Charley to ease up on the pricing pressure because for the first time he really does see the "True Value" of the products and personalized services you provide. He's even willing to add to the order to make it easier for you to justify better pricing to your sales manager.

3. You have a co-travel coaching day scheduled with your sales manager. The last one turned a little ugly. Expect your travel day to be a positive experience. Your manager is helpful and encouraging - and even tosses a few compliments your way. And it happens because you expect it to happen. It starts with your expectations.

If you want anything to be better it always starts with your Mindset. Expect things to get better and they will.

If you expect them to get worse - they will and you won't be disappointed. Here's the choice. You can expect the best or theworst but you can only choose one. Now really, isn't this a No-Brainer for you.

Don't try to succeed alone. Most salespeople don't get this one. You shouldn't think of yourself as a selling "Gladiator." Success won't come from your sword, in sales that's your mouth, it comes from a steady flow of new sales and marketing ideas you can use to help solve your customer's problems and grow your business.

The prescription for rigid thinking is a changing Mindset.

What Christopher Columbus did required "Radical thinking." What kind of radical thinking would help you to outsmart your competition?

This isn't about thinking - it's about doing!

Can Your Home or Business Weather a Fire?. Letting Go of 3G - A Viable Alternative for Asian Carriers.

0
0

Imagine arriving at your home or business only to find it burned to the ground. For too many people, that scenario is a frightening reality. To just about any home or business owner, a fire is the most detrimental of all disasters. Charred remains of furniture, equipment and personal belongings stand as reminders of what used to be. Even worse, many items may be burned beyond recognition.

While losing everything you own seems like a bleak forecast, all is not always lost. In fact, getting through the fire's aftermath depends on how organized you are before disaster strikes.

Chances are you have insurance for anything of value. You also have all sorts of paperwork that can help you get your life back in order, such as financial records, business records, and personal documents. As long as you take the foresight to protect these vital items, you can rebuild your home or business in no time.

Well-protected businesses and smart homeowners utilize one of the most indispensable storage tools ever developed: a fireproof file cabinet. In fact, most experts recommend that at least ten percent of your filing equipment be fireproof in nature.

Fireproof file cabinets are available from any office products dealer or catalog. They cost more than a standard metal file cabinet, but the investment is worth the price. You'll enjoy peace of mind knowing that should a disaster ever strike, your important papers will be protected and your business and/or personal life will quickly continue as normal.

However, simply having the correct file container is just the first step. In order to be fully protected, you need to make sure you have the correct items filed in it. For each person and business the list of documents to store in a fireproof cabinet will be different, but here are some suggestions to get you started.

1. Collect your important personal and business papers and information related to financial transactions. Clear off those desks, table tops and credenzas, toss the papers you no longer need and keep only what's vital. Most people will want to keep a record of contracts, insurance policies, payables, receivables, deeds, titles, licenses, tax records, bank account numbers, birth certificates, identification records, doctors, credit card statements, divorce decrees, investment records, marriage certificates, mortgage or other loan information, social security cards, trusts and wills. There are many other items you may wish to keep--decide what is important to you. Create a list of your filing system's contents so you can easily see what is available or what you still need to acquire.

2. Take an accurate home and business inventory. Rather than simply listing your items, break it down by room or office. This is a great cross-reference tool in case only one room of items gets damaged. Next to each item indicate its value and approximate date of purchase. Also indicate whether or not you have warranty or insurance information for the item on file.

3. Create copies of everything. Some copies may need to be certified, so allow ample time to get the duplicate copies you need. Put the important original documents in plastic covers to protect them. This will keep them clean and damage-free while preventing you from accidentally giving away an original. Store one set of copies in the same location as the originals and another set of copies in a location separate from your main filing system (such as a safe deposit box). Most important, notify the appropriate people where this important information will be located in case you are not available when it is needed.

4. Continually add relevant information to your filing system. As you go through your day, be aware of the kinds of information you should add. Identify a method, such as an index card in your pocket or mini tape recorder in your car, to make notes of new items as they pop into your mind.

Fire is one of nature's most destructive elements. But today's fireproof cabinets along with your careful planning can keep your home or business protected, even if it is burned to the ground. Reconstruction won't be easy, but it will be possible when you use the correct tools.

Most Asian cellular carriers mulling over 3G have chalked out at least tentative transition paths towards that Holy Grail. If they're GSM networks, it's a safe bet EDGE (Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution) is being considered, to replace/augment GPRS for high speed data services. Because EDGE uses a new modulated scheme that is also used for UMTS/3G, EDGE becomes a sort of half-way house to 3G.

The cost to introduce 3G into an existing GSM network is enormous. A large portion of 3G's non-license related costs pertain to new nodes patched into an existing GSM network to make it 3G compliant. And of course, these new nodes need to inter-operate with existing 2G and 2.5G nodes.

An alternative does exist, that until recently dare not speak its name. Marrying cellular and WiMax/WiFi clouds, is not just cheaper, but more in keeping with the times. Besides the cost benefits, such a union addresses two other big issues: bringing high speed data services with laser like precision to the urban users who need them and voice connectivity over cell phones to suburban residential homes with poor cellular reception.

Integrating selected WiFi Hot spots or WiMax Hot Zones into a cellular network requires an IP Network Controller (INC), an IP access network, a patch to allow the Wireless LAN (WLAN) access network to issue the relevant accounting information to the cellular cloud's AAA (authentication, authorization, and accounting) server and an investment in IP roaming. Barring a few more widgets, that's essentially it.

Given the simplicity of such a solution, anyone who has seen engineers sweat over cell site deployment or attempted to work the math behind the cellular hex grid, has to wonder why the cell phone-wallahs have not already adopted WiFi/WiMax at their peripheries.

One however continues to sense discomfort in cellular circles over any open discussion on WiFi/WiMax. This may have something to do with the fact that the same user who demands everything be free on the Internet, is more than willing to pay a premium for his mobile service. The cellular carrier therefore, is understandably wary of encouraging bad habits in his paying customers.

Kineto, an equipment manufacturer, explains how such an eco-system would work.

- A subscriber with a WLAN, dual mode mobile phone moves within range of an access point to which the handset can connect.

- On attaching, the handset contacts the mobile operator's INC over the IP access network, to be authenticated and authorized for mobile service access.

- If approved, the INC updates the subscriber's location information in the network. From that point on, all mobile traffic is routed via the INC and over the IP access network. The subscriber is now on Voice over Broadband (VoB) and on a lower fixed line / VoB type tariff.

- When the subscriber moves outside the range of the serving access point, the INC facilitates roaming to the licensed outdoor network. The roaming process is completely transparent to the mobile subscriber.

- In addition, if a subscriber is on an active voice call or handset data session when they come within range (or out of range) of a service access point, the INC facilitates the handover of the active call between networks. The handover is completely transparent to the mobile subscriber.

- The WLAN access network issues the relevant accounting information to the cellular network's AAA server. This accounting information can then be incorporated into the operator's specific CDRs enabling it to be assimilated into the operator's existing legacy billing system, creating a single bill for Cellular and WLAN usage.

In divvying up responsibilities, the WLAN provider manages the network while the mobile operator looks after customer care and billing. The end-user pays his mobile operator for the usage of the WLAN. The charges for using a cell phone over a WLAN would be lower than cellular use but in most cases it would be incremental revenue that the cellular companies would otherwise lose to fixed-line or VoB networks.

The cellular-WiFi/WiMax eco system also ropes in homes and offices equipped with broadband. To connect, the home or office user goes to his mobile provider's web portal and registers his WLAN into the IP Network Controller (INC). The subscriber's cell phone is now patched into the WLAN and on a lower fixed line / Voice over Boradband (VoB) type tariff.

While there is growing competition in the VoB sector, only the cell phone operator decides whether the customer can get a combined cellular+VoB bill. A mobile provider's Cellular-WLAN service shall therefore, stand head over shoulders over any Vonage type VoB service.

As we have seen, in a Cellular-WLAN eco system devices intelligently pick and choose from the wireless network offering the strongest signal or lowest price in a given area. It is a compelling picture that demands the cellular operator's attention, more so in Asia.

Breed Specific Legislation: Is Your Pit Bull Next?. Play Exclusive Las Vegas Golf Courses - The Not-So-Secret Secret.

0
0

Breed specific legislation otherwise known as "BSL" has started to sweep the world. Germany, Canada, The United States, France,

and England are among the major countries that have enacted some form of breed specific law that restricts or calls for a complete ban on several breeds from existing peacefully within their borders.

American Pit Bull Terriers or anything that remotely resembles a "Pit Bull" are among the most commonly listed breeds in BSL proposals.

Even more horrible is that fact these laws do not even take into consideration the individual dog's history but instead lumps them all together under one classification.

In most cases this means they are labeled as dangerous. Ultimately forcing the well behaved dogs to be seen and classified along with the dogs that have in fact bitten or attacked someone.

In short, if you have a highly decorated Search and Rescue Pit Bull your dog is seen as deadly as the dog that has been drugged up, abused, and forced to attack.

Breed specific legislation is nothing more then a band-aid law makers have placed over a massive head wound. What I find ironic is they truly feel these laws are going to help the public deal with the Pit Bull dilemma.

When in fact, nothing could be further from the truth and the public is mislead by thinking that if Pit Bulls are banned or restricted this is going to somehow stop irresponsible owners from allowing their dogs to continue to create havoc in the streets.

What will it take before people realize these laws are completely useless and enacting them only serves to tie the responsible owner's hands behind their backs?

Not to mention it creates the public image their dogs are dangerous and potentially vicious. This creates further problems for the owners because their neighbors become afraid and call for their removal from the neighborhood.

Some might think this is a paranoid outlook on the situation. Tell that to the woman whose Bull Terrier was set on fire in Germany soon after the country enacted its breed specific legislation.

Will you sit back and let this happen?

Even if you do not share your life with the American Pit Bull Terrier or a dog on these breed specific lists, it is your duty as a dog owner to do something about it.

When locals talk about South of Broad they are talking about the heart of the city. This area dates back several hundred years and features the row houses that made the city famous, the houses of worship that anchor the city [did you know that one of the first synagogues built in the US is in Charleston?], and the people who give the city its charm.

The city is best observed on foot. Or, by horse drawn buggy. Make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes on and, if visiting in the summer, expect to be soaked in sweat! Bring plenty of fresh water and dress lightly. Enjoy the guided tours or simply purchase a map and take a tour yourself. Note the confederate building, Rainbow Row, the Battery, College of Charleston, and every point in between. Make sure that you eat at one of the fine dining establishments; you will rave over the seafood! Note the oaks and observe the Spanish Moss on the trees.

As you can imagine, because of that seriousness, a number of people are desperate to end snoring; either their own snoring, or that of a partner. And as you can just as easily imagine, that desperation has inspired an array of so-called solutions; some of which are effective and safe, and others that are risky and exploratory.

Unfortunately, because the problem of snoring is so acute its actually fatal in some cases, and you cant get more acute than that! There exists widespread confusion and misinformation with respect to how to end snoring once and for all.

The purpose of

these series of articles on snoring are simply to provide an answer to that most fundamental of snoring demands: how to end snoring once and for all!

And as youll see in just a few moments, the answer often does not lie in expensive and risky surgeries. In fact, in some cases (and we'll talk about this later on in the forthcoming articles), surgery can be counter-productive and expose the snorer to other health risks! Fortunately, however, there exist several proven non-surgical anti-snoring devices, techniques, and tips that have worked wonders.

These non-surgical solutions have literally saved lives; and just as valuably, they've profoundly improved the quality of life for millions of people who found themselves at their wits end when it came to snoring; both their own, or in that of a loved one (who was becoming less and less loveable as the snoring continued!).

Before we look at these non-surgical methods of ending snoring once and for all, its helpful to understand just what snoring is on a biologic level. Well look at what causes snoring, and what creates those Zs (which we now know are not as happy and enjoyable as we remember them from our childhood drawings).

Once we've looked at the causes of snoring, we'll take a deeper look at why snoring is a problem. Obviously, we already know that its a problem; but its well worth the time to understand just how devastating untreated snoring can be; both for the snorer, and indeed, for the non-snorer. Youll likely be amazed if not a little disturbed by the dizzying array of problems that are quite clearly traced back to snoring; problems that manifest on both the physical and emotional levels.

After that, well be in a position to take a look at remedies for snoring; and our first focus here will be on surgical procedures. Why? Because its important for us to understand, scientifically, why surgical procedures to end snoring are dangerous and often counterproductive.

This is very important information that everyone should know, because it paves the way for the final section of the forthcoming articles: non-surgical, safe, and proven methods of ending snoring once and for all.

So remember, if you have kids and see them draw or paint happy pictures of sleeping people with Zs rising from their peacefully dreaming bodies, you might want to think twice before sticking those keepsakes to the fridge, or framing them and putting them on your desk at work.

Once you've finished these series of my articles on snoring, you'll likely never be able to look at seemingly innocent, safe snoring in the same way!

Wedding Loans in the UK - Saving Future from the Present Wedding Expenses

It is wrong if you thought that typical British weddings are starving of novel ideas. In fact, there is a glut of ideas, and each idea sounds as enthralling as the previous ones. The only glitch then is of finance. Had weddings been the be-all and end-all of life, not an iota of concern would have been put on the expenses. It isn't though. Wedding marks the onset of a new life for the married couple. Rash expenses at this stage of life are only going to make things worse in the future.

However, it is difficult to stop oneself from spending on a momentous occasion as wedding. Perceiving the difficulty that borrowers face in arranging finance for weddings, loan providers in the UK have now come up with wedding loans. A wedding loan is a specialised loan service that aims to cater to the borrowers who need finance for organising weddings or meeting payments of a wedding already held.

Wouldn't it be easier had the entire cost of wedding been broken into a number of parts and repayable in small instalments? A wedding loan intends to do this with the expenses incurred during weddings, and thus ease the burden on the borrower.

The following section lists down a few "must dos" for couples who intend to use wedding loans to say, "I do".

* Failing to plan is planning to fail

You would not want your wedding to go awry because of a shortage of funds. Planning ensures that there is enough to expend on weddings. Adequate consideration must be given to planning the budget of the wedding. The planning process may be fun, but the results obviously are unprecedented. The various concerned people sit together and decide the various costs that are incurred. In addition, a priority table is prepared so that a less important expenditure can be postponed or omitted altogether. With the changing times, the couple themselves finance the wedding. Nevertheless, it will be prudent to consult the elderly for a proper understanding of the expenses that are commonly incurred on such occasions. A proper planning for wedding budget must have in built flexibilities to provide for contingencies as and when they crop up.

*In search of wedding loans

Once the various persons concerned approve the budget for the wedding and decide that a wedding loan will suffice their purpose, the pursuit for wedding loan begins. Internet serves an important tool in conducting the search. Search engines like Google, MSN, and Yahoo provide links to thousands of loan providers who are offering wedding loans in the UK. Borrowers can easily adjudge loan providers with the information given about them on their website, compare wedding loan deals through a loan calculator, and request wedding loan quotes from lenders who appear lucrative.

*Working the details of the wedding loan

After screening lenders through a number of stages, you single out a lender for offering UK wedding loans. Lenders often work as a network, thus increasing the purview of wedding loan deals. Since the requirements of borrowers differ, customised rather than standardised wedding loan deals are offered. The case of each borrower is studied minutely at this stage to find out the amount that can be lent as wedding loans. Interest options and repayment options are explained to the borrower and he is allowed to make his decisions. Borrowers must not take decisions without knowing in full about its present and future repercussions.

As needs be, borrowers can consult the experts or independent financial advisors for a more detailed explanation of the term or any feature of wedding loans.

For a plush wedding in the UK, a large wedding loan will required to be drawn. Qualifying for a large amount of Wedding loans requires a collateral in the form of home or any other asset to serve as the backing for the loan. This is known as gaining on the equity in home. Nevertheless, people can get approved for large wedding loans without collateral, if they are able to instil sufficient faith in the loan provider regarding their credibility. Borrowers with a good credit history do not face difficulties in getting unsecured wedding loans because of the faith that they generate in the loan providers. A person with a bad credit history does not fail entirely in getting a wedding loan. Many loan providers accept to offer them financial assistance during weddings at higher interest rates.

Thus, many people who would have accepted a bland wedding as their fate and the result of the scarcity of resources can now heave a sigh of relief. Through a wedding loan in the UK, they can now have lush weddings minus the fear of destabilising financial health through overspending.

The credit industry if rife with pitfalls. If you have ever owned a credit card you probably already have learned this the hard way. If you have not owned a credit card previously you should definitely learn all you can about these convenient little suckers (literally) before you commit to any contract.

While not all credit cards are the same many do have similar things in common. For instance they will all charge you interest on your purchases. The only difference there is the amount of interest and how long after you make your purchase that you begin getting charged the interest.

Most people assume that they will not be charged interest for at least a month. This is called the grace period. The thing is that not all credit cards have the same length of grace period. Some companies have 15-day grace periods and others have none at all. This is the kind of thing that you need to find out before you ever make a charge on your card.

When you apply for a credit card you may be offered a lower interest rate. This "introductory rate," as it is called, is most likely only temporary. Once you have owned the card for a few months your interest rate will go up substantially. And the thing is that credit card companies can change their interest rates whenever they feel like it. Did you know that? It's true.

There is a clause in most credit card contracts that allow for the lender to up their interest rates at any time as long as they give you 15 days notice. No matter what rate is quoted in your contract they have this right.

One of the common myths people succumb to when using their credit card is the belief that paying of your balance every month is a good thing. Well, surprise, it's not. People who do not carry a balance on their cards are considered to be "deadbeats/" That's right the responsible, conscientious people are the bad guys. Creditors don't like them because by paying off their balance all of the time they are not letting the lenders make any money off of them. The interest is why they give you credit in the first place, that is their bread and butter. If you were not paying interest why would they want to bother with you?

If you are a deadbeat there is a better chance of your credit card company raising your interest rate or even eliminating your grace period. You might even begin to be charged annual fees for your card. Credit is not free after all.

Credit cards are a great tool to have at your disposal. They can help you get out of a jam quickly and easily, but don't let yourself get carried away by the convenience that they offer. Try to keep your credit card spending to a minimum and you will find in the end you are much better off.

Pet Trusts - Do You Have One For Your Pets?. Your First Step To A Digital Publishing Empire.

0
0

It is no secret that people get excited about their pets. And, that feeling does not go away when it comes time to doing some estate planning for the family - because pets are part of the family too!

Unfortunately, until recently, there just wasn't a whole lot that could be done for pets. In most cases, a loving family member would just take over after the owner's death. That worked in many cases, but not always. In fact, in far too many cases there were no loving family members willing or able to step up to the plate and take on that responsibility. The end result - the pets ended up on the street or in local animal shelters.

Many times, an owner would sweeten the offer by leaving some money for the pet's care under his or her will. However, since there was no legal obligation to use the money for the pets, you can guess what happened. In many cases, the family member or friend took the money and put the pet in the shelter.

One way that pet owners tried to solve the problem was to place money in trust for the care of the pet, with the family member or friend acting as the trustee. While this technique looked official, there was a real problem with it - pets are not people, and the law only recognized trusts when people were the beneficiaries. The legal effect of these so-called honorary trusts was not very satisfactory. Since no one was able to enforce these trusts (i.e., the pets couldn't defend themselves), the trustees were free to do as they pleased. If a trustee was also named as the beneficiary of any money left over after the pets died, guess what happened. The Trustee took the money - and put the pets in the shelter.

In 1991, the Uniform Probate Code was adopted by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (ULC). Section 2-907 of that Uniform Probate Code provided that a "pet trust" could be enforced if an individual was designated for that purpose in the trust instrument or if an individual was so appointed for that purpose by the court. In 2000, the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws adopted the Uniform Trust Code, Section 408 of which authorizes pet trusts under a provision very similar to the Uniform Probate Code.

The breakthrough with these two pieces of model legislation was that, for the first time, there was legal authority for the existence of a pet trust and there was a mechanism to enforce the provisions of the trust if the trustee did not carry them out as instructed. In other words, the trustee could now be forced to actually use the money for the care and protection of the pets!

While this was great news for pet owners, these two pieces of model legislation are not governing law. Instead, they are simply models that may be considered for legislative enactment, in one form or another, by each of the 50 states. The intent, of course, is that all 50 states will adopt the model legislation so that all states will have identical laws.

As of this date, close to half of the states and the District of Columbia have enacted legislation authorizing pet trusts, based in whole or in part on the Uniform Probate Code and the Uniform Trust Code, and at least 6 states have similar legislation pending.

If you happen to live in any of the states that have authorized pet trusts, you may want to expand your estate planning horizons to include a provision for your pets. That's what more and more people are doing now that there is legal authority for pet trusts.

There

is only one way to climb a mountain - step by step.

Now think of writing your ebook in the same light. You must create it step by step, and one day, you will take that last step and find yourself standing on the summit with your head in the clouds.

The first thing you have to do, as if you actually were a mountain climber, is to get organized. Instead of climbing gear, however, you must organize your thoughts. There are some steps you should take before you begin. Once you've gone through the following list, you will be ready to actually begin writing your ebook.

Beginning Steps to Writing an ebook

First, figure out your ebook's working title. Jot down a few different titles, and eventually, you'll find that one that will grow on you. Titles help you to focus your writing on your topic; they guide you in anticipating and answering your reader's queries. Many non-fiction books also have subtitles. Aim for clarity in your titles, but cleverness always helps to sell books ? as long as it's not too cute. For example, Remedies for Insomnia: twenty different ways to count sheep. Or: Get off that couch: fifteen exercise plans to whip you into shape.

Next, write out a thesis statement. Your thesis is a sentence or two stating exactly what problem you are addressing and how your book will solve that problem. All chapters spring forth from your thesis statement. Once you've got your thesis statement fine-tuned, you've built your foundation. From that foundation, your book will grow, chapter by chapter.

Your thesis will keep you focused while you write your ebook. Remember: all chapters must support your thesis statement. If they don't, they don't belong in your book. For example, your thesis statement could read: We've all experienced insomnia at times in our lives, but there are twenty proven techniques and methods to give you back a good night's sleep.

Once you have your thesis, before you start to write, make sure there is a good reason to write your book. Ask yourself some questions:

* Does your book present useful information and is that information currently relevant?

* Will you book positively affect the lives of your readers?

* Is your book dynamic and will it keep the reader's attention?

* Does you book answer questions that are meaningful and significant?

If you can answer yes to these questions, you can feel confident about the potential of your ebook.

Another important step is to figure out who your target audience is. It is this group of people you will be writing to, and this group will dictate many elements of your book, such as style, tone, diction, and even length. Figure out the age range of your readers, their general gender, what they are most interested in, and even the socio-economic group they primarily come from. Are they people who read fashion magazines or book reviews? Do they write letters in longhand or spend hours every day online. The more you can pin down your target audience, the easier it will be to write your book for them.

Next, make a list of the reasons you are writing your ebook. Do you want to promote your business? Do you want to bring quality traffic to your website? Do you want to enhance your reputation?

Then write down your goals in terms of publishing. Do you want to sell it as a product on your website, or do you want to offer it as a free gift for filling out a survey or for ordering a product? Do you want to use the chapters to create an e-course, or use your ebook to attract affiliates around the world? The more you know upfront, the easier the actual writing will be.

Decide on the format of your chapters. In non-fiction, keep the format from chapter to chapter fairly consistent. Perhaps you plan to use an introduction to your chapter topic, and then divide it into four subhead topics. Or you may plan to divide it into five parts, each one beginning with a relevant anecdote.

How to make your ebook "user friendly"

You must figure out how to keep your writing engaging. Often anecdotes, testimonials, little stories, photos, graphs, advice, and tips will keep the reader turning the pages. Sidebars are useful for quick, accessible information, and they break up the density of the page.

Write with a casual, conversational tone rather than a formal tone such as textbook diction. Reader's respond to the feeling that you are having a conversation with them. Break up the length and structure of your sentences so you don?t hypnotize your readers into sleep. Sentences that are all the same length and structure tend to be a good aid for insomnia!

Good writing takes practice. It takes lots and lots of practice. Make a schedule to write at least a page a day. Read books and magazines about the process of writing, and jot down tips that jump out at you. The art of writing is a lifetime process; the more you write (and read), the better your writing will become. The better your writing becomes, the bigger your sales figures.

In an ebook that is read on the screen, be aware that you must give your reader's eye a break. You can do this by utilizing white space. In art classes, white space is usually referred to as "negative space." Reader's eyes need to rest in the cool white oasises you create on your page. If your page is too dense, your reader will quit out of it as soon as their eyes begin to tear.

Make use of lists, both bulleted and numbered. This makes your information easy to absorb, and gives the reader a mental break from dissecting your paragraphs one after the other.

Finally, decide on an easy-to-read design.

Find a font that's easy on the eyes, and stick to that font family. Using dozens of fonts will only tire your readers out before they've gotten past your introduction. Use at least one and a half line spacing, and text large enough to be read easily on the screen, but small enough so that the whole page can be seen on a computer screen. You will have to experiment with this to find the right combination.

Of course, don't forget to run a spell and grammar check. You are judged by something as minor as correct punctuation, so don?t mess up a great book by tossing out semicolons randomly, or stringing sentences together with commas. (By the way, that's called a "comma splice.")

Last of all, create an index and a bibliography. That's it! You've written a book! Now all you have to do is publish your ebook online, and wait for download request from your website visitors.

The Money Making Secret of "The Toll Booth Position". Creating A Network That Works.

0
0

I'm a marketing consultant and at one of my client-companies, a
company that, in less than 10 years, has gone from a $10 million
to a $100 million dollar business one of the people I work with
frequently has jokingly given herself the title, 'Vice President,
Back-End.'

Although that clearly opens her up to be the butt of many jokes,
it does very accurately describe her very, very important area of
responsibility, in direct marketing parlance. At least 80% of the
company's profitability depends on her contributions.

If the term "back-end" is new to you, it means everything you
sell your customers after their initial purchase (that first
order is called the "front-end"). For instance, let's say you
sell instructional video tapes to golfers on how to play better.
You advertise in golf magazines and your lead product is a $25
video on putting strategies. That's your "front-end" because
that's what people buy first. But then once people purchase that
first video, you send them a catalog offering them over 50 other
golf videos ranging in price from $50 to $99. Those follow-on
videos are your "back-end."

In many businesses, there is a relatively brief period of time
during which there are significant, exciting profits on the
front-end, that is the very first sale to a customer.

But that happy situation dissolves over time, as you "cream" the
market. And, as you go deeper and deeper into a market, the cost
of making the first sale (acquiring a customer) goes up and up.
For instance, in the above example of the golf videos the first
time you run a magazine ad you might pull 100 orders. But if you
keep running it every month, your order volume will probably drop
off steadily. Within six months, you'd be lucky to be selling 30
videos from the same ad in the same magazine. As some point, it
gets so high it is no longer practical to advertise and sell that
product to that market.

Nothing is forever. This fact of life is what mandates being
smart about making all the money that you can from the back-end.

The good news is that your satisfied customers are probably
willing to buy other things from you -- and they don't even have
to be your own products/services. You can make deals with other
companies to offer their products/services to your customers in
exchange for a piece of the action.

For instance, let's go back to our example of the golf video
company. You might do a "joint venture" with a manufacturer of
special golf clubs which sell for $1,500 a set. You'll mail a
letter to your customers telling them how well these clubs will
improve their golf game and you'll get $750 on each order placed.
If your customers trust you, they'll be much more likely to
respond to your letter than they would be if the golf club
manufacturer mailed to them directly.

Of course you only want to recommend high-quality products and
services which will be of value to your customers. But you get
the idea. You could make similar deals with other companies who
sell what golfers want -- golf apparel, golf trip and excursion
operators, even custom home builders who sell houses near golf
courses. They'd all happily pay you a 'toll' commission to sell
their wares to your customers.

No matter what your business, one of the most valuable assets you
have is a list of satisfied customer, predisposed to buy from you
again. When you control a sizable list of customers who bought
from you, know your name/business name, are happy with what they
bought and with the ensuing relationship ... and are pre-disposed
to read your mail and buy from you again, it's like owning your
own "toll booth."

A pioneer of direct marketing, Harvey Brody, taught me the power
and value of getting into "The Toll Booth Position" and I've been
teaching it for years. Imagine owning your own toll booth on the
highway near your city. Anybody who wants to get to the other
side of that toll booth has to pass through its gates and pay you
money.

As the controller of a responsive customer list, that's exactly
where you are; sitting there in your own toll booth and anybody
who wants to get their appropriate product or service to those
customers you control, has to pay you money.

You can collect a toll through joint ventures, as described above
wherein you do an endorsed mailing to your customers and get a
piece of all sales that result.

Or, if you build a list of 50,000 or more, through outright lists
rentals. I have a number of clients who pay all their overhead
expenses every year just with the checks they get from the list
broker representing their list to others.

I have often paid others to pass through their toll booths ---
and done so cheerfully. I have also been paid by others eager to
get through my toll booth, to my customers, with my endorsement.

In the direct marketing business, it's a well-known fact that
most of the profits is derived from back-end sales to existing
customers. Yet outside that business, I rarely encounter a
company which comes anywhere close to tapping the potential of
establishing their own "toll booth position." Get started
building yours right now and start charging others to go down
your road.

Do you ever stand in awe of those people who seem to know everybody and everything? I know I do! Regardless of what you're looking for, these people have their finger on the pulse of the 'Net and know where to find it. Their network of resources and people is incredible! Yours can be, too.

It's actually very simple to create a network that works to bring you business, offers feedback and provides those resources that we all need to have.

---- Make A Wish List

The first step in creating a network that works is making a list of what you want. Go ahead, think of the perfect situation where you would have anything you needed at your fingertips. For example, if you have a Web design business you might find it very helpful to create associations with people who offer services that compliment yours. Why? Because if these people are heavily involved with the process of getting a Web-based business up and going, they could send you many leads and that could turn into paying clients.

What else might you want? Perhaps free advertising or publicity to bring more business your way? Sure! Write it down on the wish list.

---- Making Wishes Come True

Now, the next step is to find the resources you need in order to make those wishes realities. It's not as difficult as it sounds. Just expand on your wish list a bit in the following way.

We mentioned needing associations with service providers that compliment our example of Web design. So write down companies that provide:

Web hosting, merchant accounts, shopping carts, autoresponders, Internet checks, copywriting, graphic design and scripting/programming.

We also said we needed some advertising or publicity. So add to the list the following: ezine ad swaps, banner ad swaps, local newspapers, local TV and radio stations, Chambers of Commerce.

Finally, it's time to go to work. The best way to start is to alert your friends and associates of what you are trying to accomplish. It's simple to send a quick email that states something to the effect of, "I'm in the process of expanding my resources and find I'm in need of the following [provide the list]. If you know of anyone who you highly recommend in one of the above areas, please offer them my phone number and email address. I am interested in arranging a joint affiliation with them in order to increase both our businesses."

You can also send the same message to any lists or bulletin boards you frequent. Most people are more than happy to refer those they have had pleasant working relationships with.

---- Final Decisions

Lastly, once you get the results from your search back, contact the ones you feel most comfortable with. Again, honestly explain what you are doing and that you would like to create a joint partnership with them in order to exchange leads, prospects and services.

Even if someone does not suit your needs at the moment, enter them into your database for future reference. I once had a graphic designer's email address and samples for 6 months before having a need for them. However, because I had already established contact, once my need arose it was smooth sailing!

When you are ready to begin your projects, just contact those on your list who can fill a need. Perhaps you want to advertise your Web design services.

You can ask someone in your network (a Web host, a graphic artist, etc.) to participate in joint advertising with you. This will allow you to get excellent exposure for ½ the price because those costs are shared with your "partner".

You can also set up a referral process. I have several arrangements with others in where we exchange referrals. Some do it for a fee, others just do it on a one-for-one basis. You and your network member can decide what works best for you.

The results of this simple process are normally tremendous. The majority of small business owners are always looking for ways to expand their businesses. Exchanging leads with one another, creating joint affiliations and bartering are great ways to create a broad network that truly does work!

8 Top Tips For Successful Art Auction Listings. Natural Prescription for Eczema.

Why is it that some artists seem to make easy money on eBay while others struggle to break even? Seller A and seller B could be selling paintings of the same calibre, yet seller A turns a good profit year in year out and has Powerseller status, while seller B struggles to even make a profit at all.

Often it has a lot to do with the look of their auction listings.

I have been selling my original artwork on eBay for 5 years now and boy was I green when I started off. I didn't own a digital camera - I used an ordinary camera with film ... you know that old stuff ... I would take photos of my artwork, then tramp into town, wait three days for the film to be developed, then scan the prints into my computer. The quality of my photos were obviously pretty poor in those days.

I didn't know anything about HTML, templates, how and when to list to get optimum benefit from my auctions. It's a wonder I even got off the ground! But get off the ground I did - though dogged persistence and a willingness to learn, I went from selling paintings for a couple of pounds/dollars, to earning a good full time living.

These days I am a Powerseller and often get hundreds for my paintings.

So, here are my top tips to make your art auctions stand out and promote you from part - time pin money earner to top seller;

1; Think about KISS .... Keep It Simple Stupid! A listing that has lots of different colours, fonts, animated pictures, text in capitals can be very confusing for the reader. Don't bombard people with too much information.

2; Be factual in your description. If your item has a fault - list it. This way a buyer knows exactly what he/she is getting and there will be no negative feedback later. I have sold paintings that had repairs where they had had small rips in them. I was honest in the fact that the paintings weren't perfect, but my buyers were perfectly happy because they knew beforehand what they were buying.

3; Never be negative. Recently one artist who was struggling to sell anything at all (despite being a very good artist) complained how eBay just wasn't working for him. After looking at his auctions I could see why! His listings were basic to say the least, but he could have gotten away with that. What was stopping any chance of him selling were the words at the end of his auction;

"The artist is unwilling to offer this item at a lower starting price as to do so would be insulting."

Potential buyers might look at this statement and think "well I wouldn't want to insult anyone" or "well if you feel insulted, why list it?" and click away ... to someone else's paintings. Comments like this are far too negative.

4; When selling art, a picture paints a thousand words, as the saying goes. Try to make your pictures as high quality as possible. Include side views of your canvasses and possibly a room view. Don't clutter your listing with pictures of other artwork you have for sale - it's just confusing.

If you have an eBay store, you will get automatic 'cross promotion' for several other items at the end of your auction anyway.

5; Don't undersell yourself / under price your work. Who takes 5 to 10 pounds / dollars as an opening bid price seriously? Only very well known, well established artists with large fan bases can get away with starting a listing so low. Until you are established, don't risk selling your art for pennies. You'll not even cover your listing fees, never mind make a profit.

6; Utilise keywords effectively. I saw a pencil drawing of a mum and baby Koala in a tree listed as "A mother's Love Original Pencil Drawing" Unfortunately, it is very unlikely that anyone will search "a", "mothers", or "love".

Well maybe love .... but not in the context of an original drawing of an animal. The seller was wasting a lot of keyword space there. Better would have been something like "Original Contemporary Drawing Sketch Koala Bear Bears" Doesn't mean much as a sentence in itself, but it is packed with keywords, people might use to find that type of item.

7; Offer excellent customer service. I have always prided myself on the number of positive feedbacks I have attained over the years. On various eBay IDs I have well over 1000 unique positive feedbacks. This is money in the bank! A happy customer will come back again and again, and it is much easier to sell to an existing customer than to gain a new one. Keep your buyers happy and they will reward you with loyalty and repeat purchases.

8; Have a 'ME' page. With art buying, people like to know who they are buying from. They like to 'get to know' the artist. If you can offer a small biography and artists statement on your me page, your potential buyer can feel like they already know you. I have a bio, a photo of myself with my artwork and a recent article that appeared in a regional arts and culture magazine. This allows buyers to see a friendly face - yours - and to feel like they know a little about you and 'where you're at' before they buy.

I hope these tips help you a with your eBay art career. There's loads more I could add, but eBay is a real learning curve. Often success comes simply though experience and trying different thing until you find something that works for you. The above tips, however, will get you off to a good start to becoming a successful eBay art seller.

-Identify food allergies and eliminate the offending foods from you diet. Eggs, milk, cheese, chocolate, peanuts, soy, potatoes, and the glutens in wheat are common allergenic foods. It will take four to six weeks for the results of an allergen-free diet to be observed, so be patient.

-Investigate the possibility of the food additive tartrazine contributing to the eczema and, if it does, eliminate it from the diet.

-Eat fatty fish like salmon, herring, and mackerel at least twice a week.

Some steps to relieve symptoms:

-Do not use hot water for bathing and showering: Use warm water.
-Use bath oil to soften skin. Use a nondrying soap substitute instead of soap
-Do not use over-the-counter ointments that contain benzocaine or antibiotics.
-Avoid lanolin in skin lotions, cosmetics, cleansers, and the like.
-Try to avoid temperature extremes and any activity that will involve excessive sweating.
-Aerobic exercise is beneficial to eczema and other skin ailments. Just be sure to take a warm shower after exercise to wash away sweat.
-Avoid any oily or greasy ointment that prevents skin from breathing.
-Try to wear cotton and other natural fibers next to your skin with the exception of wool, which you should avoid.

Who Is Your Real Competition?. Online Education Courses Learn to Do Anything.

If you design kitchens, is another kitchen designer your competition? Most likely not. And the sooner you can position and modify your marketing strategy against your real competition, the sooner you will start to see more business come through the door. So Who Really Is Your Competition? The answer to that is always--Never the most obvious. So let's take the example of the kitchen designer. Having decided that another kitchen designer isn't his competition, he now has to decide who is his real competition.

His Real Competition Could Be A Car Salesman

Is this for real? How can a car salesman be a kitchen designer's competition? Let's analyse this more carefully. A kitchen and a car are both fighting for the same thing-- The householder's limited budget.

If the kitchen designer, were able to convince a couple that a kitchen is more important than a new car (which he could easily do if there was a foodie around), he now has a better chance of them dropping the car in favour of the kitchen.

The Advantage Of This Method Of Positioning

The most obvious advantage is that you're not losing any current customers. All your past advertising is bringing in the customers that are looking for kitchens anyway.

What it does do however, is bring in a new lot of customers that would never have thought about kitchens, if you hadn't implanted it in their minds. Effectively, you have both, customers who are looking for kitchens as well as customers who are forfeiting their new cars in favour of new kitchens.

How Your Re-Positioning Can Help You Focus

We had a client who ran a laundromat. Her current customers were people who did not have washing machines. Obviously, her business went up and down based on the season and on her customers limited budget. We got her to refocus her marketing strategy on a new target-- Customers who had washing machines.

These customers had the money, but no time. By deciding that her real competition was time she decided to target people who had limited time instead.

As a result, she was now targeting busy people while other laundromats were targeting people with washing. This positioning actually helped the laundromat stand out from the rest of the competition.

How The Laundromat Did A Full 180

This re-positioning did a couple of things for them. One, it helped them focus on their target audience. Consequently, they changed their name from just XYZ Laundromat to Bizzie Buggers.

It was catchy and bang on target. It also now meant that busy customers (with the money), were more likely to stop over and drop their washing. Plus they had the regular customers walking through the door anyway.

What You Need To Do

Sit down and write who your immediate competition could be. Then write down what your business is really up against. Here are some examples.

These aren't necessarily your right targets but they help you see things in a different light and help you determine who your real competition could possibly be.

Computer Salesman= Filing Cabinet

Online education courses are a great way to learn many things. With the sheer number of people today who have regular access to the Internet, the opportunities to learn these things are far greater than they were just a decade or two ago. Without online education, the only way to learn a new skill or take a class would be to physically attend that class or find someone who could teach you privately. Because of the technology of online education, there are literally thousands of things you can learn and many of them can be studied right from the privacy of your own home.

In many cases, the fact that you are learning from home can be a real benefit. Consider the privacy you have in your home.

If you are learning something new, there's no need for others to even know you are studying this particular subject. You may be embarrassed to let others know that you don't already have this knowledge, or it might simply be in your best interest that others don't know. For example, you may be seeking to gain a training certificate that will put you in line for a promotion. It might be politically incorrect in your current employment to be making this move. Your current supervisor might resent the fact that you want to move up. While secrecy is never a good thing, being discreet about your plans might be a wise move. You may even be looking for employment elsewhere and taking online education courses may be a stepping stone to that move. Again, letting your current employer know about your educational goals could be cause for tension in your current work environment.

It could also be that you just want to learn something new. You'll find literally hundreds of online education courses available.

Whether you're wanting to learn to sew or you want to work on a degree, you can likely find an online education program that's just right for you.

Russ Whitney: Journey To Greatness. Deep Linking Strategy for Content Sites.

Teenage

years for Russ Whitney were not filled with opportunity, stability and financial security. He, as a teenager, was described as youth with no future prospects.

He, at this age, did indeed look to embody a guy that was &going nowhere'. He had dropped out of high school and although was street smart didn't exude much of a potential for achievement. With no education, no qualifications, no ambition, he didn't justify being taken seriously.

He changed all of that and his job was what gave him the confidence and motivation to change his life.

Russ Whitney and early adulthood

After he dropped out of school he needed to find gainful employment.

It was the Tobin Meat Packing Factory in Albany, New York that gave him the job described as the starting block to a life filled with successes.

His job was nothing remarkable; he was a meat packer and earned an hourly wage. He earned $5 an hour packing meat for Tobin's.

A wife and child to support at the age of twenty and his meager wage meant that he struggled to stay afloat financially. His financial concerns and uninspiring job led him to seek alternative employment options.

He began to look at the various options available to make extra money. All the wealth creating schemes that he attempted he argued were either "pure junk" or, as he says, "Required a lot of money to start".

A good book gave him an idea to develop a business plan that didn't require great start-up capital. He realized that the real estate investment market was a viable means to create wealth and, three weeks after ordering the book, had made $11,000.

Russ Whitney in the money

In order to make his first money, he

€ Purchased residential houses in ill repair € Repaired the houses € Generated a positive cash flow while he increased their value

He also increased his own net worth by implementing a variety of creative techniques.

He moved his family to Cape Coral when he turned twenty-five. In Florida, he borrowed the amount of $1,000 in order to effectively restructure his strategies. He then went on to create a fortune to the tune of $4.7 million. At this point, he never had to worry about money for the rest of his life.

Russ Whitney the millionaire

Upon making his first million, he wrote first book entitled, "Overcoming the Hurdles and Pitfalls of Real Estate Investing".

With this book, he hopes to tell people exactly what he did to amass his wealth whether it was the right or wrong move. He intends to let people know how they can also achieve financial success but without making the errors that he made.

Russ Whitney's incredible achievement

Russ Whitney started off with nothing; he was a high school dropout with no prospects. He decided that he wasn't going to accept his fate and be a poor and unsuccessful man all his life, and aimed his standards higher.

With determination hard work and a will to succeed, he reached and surpassed his high standards.

He is the example of a man who doesn't wait for opportunity but goes out and creates his own. With his advice you can follow his lead and create an opportunity of your own.

This isn't a selfish millionaire. Russ Whitney wants to share his secrets to wealth with you he wants you to experience all the freedom and security of financial independence.

Linking - what a mess if you don't know what's going on. Either linking is "IN" or it's "OUT" according to what you read these days.

Here's the good news: Linking Works.

Here's the bad news: HOW It Works Has Changed!

The good thing is you are going to pick up a linking tip today that will put you light years ahead of most webmasters who think a reciprocal link directory is all you need to gain link popularity in Google and traffic from other sites.

Link directories are still ok, but the key is moderation. Directories with thousands of links are a dark ages website promotion tactic.

Today there are many people focusing on content again, thank god. And that means you have a lot more real estate than just a home page and a link directory to work with.

People have written to me to completely disagree with me on what I am about to show you, but believe the expert, it works!

Say you have 500 pages of article and resource content on your site. If you are publishing articles on several categories you could have many more pages than that.

But even if you only have a 30 page site right now, it should be growing all the time and will be large eventually. (If not, forget about Google staying excited about your site if it never changes.)

Each of those articles and resource pages is a link to your site waiting to happen.

There are two ways to get links to your site here:

1) Ask for a link to your main page in exchange for a link on one of your relevant article pages to the site you are requesting an exchange with.

2) Deep Linking: Ask for a link right back to the specific page on your site you are going to link to them on. Again, find relevant pages of content to the sites you are going after. People respond well to this, especially if you say you are limiting your outgoing links to "further resources" to 5 per page. (The number is up to you.)

What does this do for your site?

1) It gets webmasters WAY more excited about linking with you because you are putting them ON your site, not in some cobweb-ridden part of your site that no one ever visits.

2) It lets other site owners know you have ACTUALLY taken the time to review their site enough to know where they would best fit on your site according to the topic of the page you want to link to them on. Again - this is a way different message to them than the "Let's swap links" letter we all trash these days.

3) You start building link popularity and traffic direct to pages within your site other than your index. (If you choose to direct swap with them.)

4) It gives you leverage to ask for a better link from other sites than just being thrown in their link dump (link directory) where, again, far fewer people ever visit. You command the power to ask for a similar link of importance from the pages their visitors actually see. Win-Win

5) You increase the value of your links page because you are not loading it down with any and every person who will link with you. You can go back to old school linking to sites that you HONESTLY do recommend and that list can be far smaller and really fit on 1-2 pages. All the sudden you have traffic to your links page again and can truly reward webmasters who are on it with some traffic.

6) The links you get this way are going to be some of the first links you have probably ever gotten that actually send you significant traffic. The same goes for your link partners.

"But Jack, I don't want to send traffic away from my site!" Yes you do, in fact. Because you are asking your link partners to do the same. Links like this are just as profitable in the long run as Google Adsense ads because you are finally engaging in a real traffic exchange and leveraging your eproperty for what it's really worth. Trust me - this works. Send some traffic out and see what happens to your referrer stats.

Never give more than you get. Many people won't understand this form of linking for another year or so. They will try to shove your link in a dark hole on their site. Don't let them do it!

If someone doesn't understand the power of deep linking from their content pages, send them this article as a last ditch effort and tell them Jack said so. Otherwise, move on, take their link down, and find someone smart enough to see where linking is headed.

Overall, you are going to find it is much easier to get links this way, even from sites bigger than yours. Telling people "I want to link to you as a recommended resource on (name of article) page..." tells them that you are a pro and not some schmuck who has a linking program that spits out cookie cutter emails.

Too much work? Hire someone and pay them per link they secure in your name. Write the letter and have them fill in the blanks for specific sites. Teach them how to go through your site, learn the content, and go out and find RELEVANT recommended resources for each page.

You'd be surprised to find out how cheaply you can get good work done these days on Elance.com and other "for hire" sites.

Sit back and watch your incoming QUALITY links soar from month to month!

Kids Bedding for Boys and Girls. The Myth of Fast Weight Loss.

0
0

There are many different types of kids bedding that is gender neutral, from everything such as a color scheme to characters, to animal themes. At the same time, though, there are many that are very gender specific.

Girls have many different choices for what types of kids bedding they may want. A good theme for girls that can start at an early age is princesses, and girls will usually like this one for a long time. The same goes with flowers and pastel or pinks and purples.

Boys have the equivalent in sports themes and things like camouflage. In this area, it can be one specific sport, such as football, or a more generalized theme that involves all sports. This works well, because they may change their minds on their favorite sport within a matter of months, or even weeks, and feel very adamantly about their favorite sport. Colors tend to be darker and brighter most of the time in boys' rooms, so it is usually the same, or similar, when it comes to the kids bedding choices for them.

The many gender neutral types can be such things as cartoon themes, certain animals, etc. especially when they are younger, as in babies or toddlers, it can be a lot easier to find gender neutral themes as opposed to gender specific. One of the reasons for this is that small children tend to not care quite as much about colors being a certain way and care more about characters or animals, and these all tend to be the same. This is especially true with nurseries, because so many times a person doesn't find out what the sex of the baby will be before it's born, or they do, but the sonogram is wrong, or they are concerned with it possibly being wrong. Many parents tend to go with neutral bedding so that they won't have to worry about this if it happens to them. Luckily, with babies, no one cares that a little boy's room is done in light greens and yellows, but when they get older their friends might tend to make fun of them if this were still the case.

Girls have an option that boys don't have as they get older, and this is to have a canopy bed, with the curtains hanging on the rods above.

For a girl, this would seem like they have the bed of a princess, but for a boy, they would feel like they were a girl in a bed like this. There are daybeds, as well, which are typically not a boy's favorite type of bed. There are many different types of toddler beds as well, such as racecar beds, and for girls there are princess beds and more. Toddler beds are always made slightly differently than regular beds, so you will want to make sure the kids bedding is specifically made for that type of bed, as well as pick bedding to match it.

There are bunk beds of many different types that a child may have, as well. This includes the kind with a twin bed on bottom, or it could be a full size, or even a futon. Each of these bed options leads to more options in bedding for them, because there are different types of sheets, and other bedding items that are specifically made for most types of bunk beds, so that they fit better than a regular sheet would.

So, there are many things about boy kids bedding that is similar to girl kids bedding, but there are also many differences, and these are always a good thing to keep in mind when purchasing bedding for a child.

You will be surprised to find out how many people are actually looking for a fast weight loss program. Why fast? Well, first of all, most of us are impatient. We live hectic lives. We want results now, we want to notice the change right away, and we don't want to work hard to achieve those results.

Most people eat what they want all year round, prefer TV over exercising and dream about how next week (or month/year) they are going to start a healthy lifestyle. Suddenly one day they realize that it is just 2 weeks left before they have to go to a Christmas party or that summer is coming up and they want to look good in the new bikini. Usually around this time I get hundreds of emails - all of them pretty much the same "I have this event coming up in two weeks. I need to lose about 10-15 pounds. What is the fastest way to do it?"

Of course TV and Internet is full of commercials that promise you to lose 20 pounds in two weeks. They even show you tons of pictures of fit, smiling people with perfect bodies. Just pop a magic pill 3 times a day and you will turn into a supermodel right away. Sounds good, right?

I hate to disappoint you but this is just another scam created to get your money. There is no such thing as fast weight loss. I'm sure I'll get some infuriated replies like "That can't be true! My friend Maggie lost 16 pounds in two weeks doing Low carb diet!" Well you are in for another disappointment. Your friend didn't lose any fat. She lost water and muscle.

Human body is a well coordinated working mechanism. It has no idea that you've decided to fit in a size 8 dress and doing some new fad diet. It thinks you are starving. It's too concerned about survival to allow us losing weight fast. Instead your metabolism slows down to conserve the energy. As soon as you'll start eating normal food you'll gain all of your weight back and some extra pounds in addition to that.

To make it simple fast weight loss is always followed by fast weight gain. No exceptions.

In addition to that when you lose weight too fast, your skin does not have enough time to shrink, it will become loose.

The right amount of weight that the average person can lose in one week by eating correctly and doing exercises is around 2-3 pounds. That is a healthy, safe, effective amount to lose. Only that way you can get long lasting results. I know it is not as fast as many people would like to lose weight, but think about it how long did it take you to gain weight? I bet you $1000 dollars you didn't gain 20 pounds in two weeks. It is only logical, that your body will not allow you to lose 20 pounds in two weeks. Sorry!

I'm trying to save your money

here, so repeat after me "There is no machine, no special diet, no special workout program, no special pill or special patch that will help me to lose weight fast and healthy at the same time". Repeat it to yourself every time you have an urge to buy some "quick fix" no matter how appealing it sounds.

Remember people who have created these commercials are professionals who know what you would like to hear. Don't let them fool you. Just try to eat right and work out. Be consistent. Make one little step at a time and you'll be surprised how far you can actually go.

Meditation: A Path To Inner Peace. Things Every Couple Should Know.

0
0

Throughout history, meditation has been an integral part of many cultures. Records indicate that meditation was practiced in ancient Greece and India more than 5,000 years ago. In the Buddhist religion, meditation is an important part of their spiritual practice. Different forms of meditation are practiced in China and Japan, and Christianity, Judaism, and Islam have traditions similar to meditation. The word

meditation comes from the Latin &meditari' which means: exercise, turn something over in one's mind, think, consider. It is defined as "consciously directing your attention to alter your state of mind."

Meditation is one of the proven alternative therapies that in recent years have been classified under the mind-body medicine therapies. It is continuing to gain popularity, as more and more health experts believe that there is more to the connection between mind and body than modern medicine can explain. Meditation has been shown to aid the immune system and improve brain activity, according to researchers. More and more doctors are prescribing meditation as a way to lower blood pressure, improve exercise performance, for people with angina, to help people with asthma to breathe easier, to relieve insomnia, and generally relax everyday stresses of life. Many hospitals now offer meditation classes for their patients because of the health benefits. All promote physiological health and well-being.

Traditionally meditation has been used for spiritual growth but more recently has become a valuable tool for managing stress and finding a place of peace, relaxation, and tranquility in a demanding fast-paced world. Benefits resulting from meditation include: physical and emotional healing; easing stress, fear, and grief; improved breathing; developing intuition; deep relaxation; exploring higher realities; finding inner guidance; unlocking creativity; manifesting change; emotional cleansing and balancing; and deepening concentration and insight.

Meditation elicits many descriptive terms: stillness, silence, tranquility, peace, quiet, and calm. All counter stress and tension. Lama Surya Das in his book Awakening The Buddha Within says, "Meditation is not just something to do; it's a method of being and seeing - an unconditional way of living moment by moment." In other words, learning to live in this moment because this moment is all we have. Henry Winkler is quoted as saying; "A human being's first responsibility is to shake hands with himself." Meditation is an opportunity to &shake hands with ourselves' in a safe, simple way and to balance our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Meditation takes many forms in today's society. All have one thing in common. They use concentration techniques to still the mind and stop thought. Various practices exist such as chanting (Mantra), focusing on energy centres in the body (Chakra Meditation), breathing, mindfulness (Mahamudra), loving kindness, formal sitting (Vipassana), expressive practices (Siddha Yoga), and walking to name some of the styles. Try each style and see what works for you or you may want to alternate between the techniques from time to time. For the purposes of this article, I will discuss Mahamudra and walking meditation.

Practical Steps To Begin Meditating

1. Find a place where there are few external distractions. A place where you feel emotionally comfortable, safe, removed from pressure and stress is the optimal location.

2. Wear clothing that is loose and sit or lie in a comfortable position.

3. Plan to meditate in an area that is warm and comfortable. You might want to have a blanket or light covering as some people experience a feeling of coolness when they aren't moving around for a period of time.

4. Candles can be used to focus attention on the task at hand. If you use them, remember to be cautious and extinguish them before leaving the room.

5. Relaxation is a key component of meditation. Take a few moments to bring about a state of relaxation by taking a deep breath through your nose, expanding your lungs and diaphragm. Hold the breath for a few seconds and slowly exhale through your mouth. Do this several times until you feel relaxed.

6. Calm, soothing music can be helpful for inducing a state of tranquillity and relaxation

7. If you are hungry, have a little something to eat, as it is not necessary to meditate on a completely empty stomach.

8. Put your expectations aside and don't worry about doing it right.

Meditation

Mahamudra is the form of meditation that is a way of going about one's daily activities in a state of mindfulness. It is meditation integrated into all aspects of our lives. This following exercise is one you can do anywhere to create a feeling of inner peace. It is particularly helpful for those times you are stuck in traffic, waiting in line at the grocery store or bank, at the office when days are hectic, or when you are picking up the kids from school or extra-curricular activities. "What I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it," wrote Hugh Mulligan. Meditation helps us remember to stop and &smell the daisies.'

Begin by taking a deep breath. Breathe deeply and as you do expand your lungs and your diaphragm. Hold the breath for a few seconds and slowly exhale through the mouth. Focus on your breath and clear your mind. Do this several times until you feel the slowing of your breath and a deep sense of peace fill your body. Consciously feel the peace permeate your body. Drop your shoulders and connect through the top of your head to the Universal Energy. Repeat. If you wish, send peace to those around you by connecting to their hearts with light and love.

Walking Meditation

A walking meditation is simply an exercise in awareness. There are four components:

½ become aware of your breathing,

½ notice your surroundings,

½ be attentive to your body's movement, and

½ take some time to reflect on your experience when you return home.

To practice &awareness walking' bring awareness to walking wherever you find yourself. Take notice of your breathing. Are you taking short, shallow breaths without even knowing it? If so, take several deep breaths and centre yourself in your body and in the present moment. Appreciate the wonderful body you have and the blessing of being able to walk.

Notice your surroundings. What season is it? Take a few minutes to listen to the noises around you. Feel the wind, sun, fog, rain or snow on your face. Look at the people, animals, birds, sky, trees, and buildings around you. Breathe in and out and realise that you are an integral part of the environment.

Pay attention to your body. Are you holding tension in your shoulders, neck, solar plexus, lower back, or legs? Breath into any areas where you are feeling tension and let it drain into the Earth. Next, pay attention to your posture. Are you standing straight and tall or slouching? Walk in a way that is comfortable for you with your body loose and uplifted. Walk with dignity and confidence, one foot in front of the other and pay attention to the experience of movement. You can walk mindfully anywhere, along a sidewalk, walking your dog, in the mall, along the hallways at work. You simply remind yourself to be in this moment, taking each step as it comes.

Some people find it helpful to repeat a mantra (mantras are sacred words repeated in order to bring focus to your mind). You can also use a variation on the walking mantra by counting your breaths. Walk more slowly than you usually do and count how many steps it takes for your intake of breath and how many steps for your exhale. In this type of meditation, your attention is focused on both your steps and your breathing bringing together a wonderful balance of peacefulness and awareness.

Take some time to reflect on your experience when you return home. Five or ten minutes brings closure to your walk and provides an opportunity to make the transition from this &place of peace' to ordinary day-to-day activities.

In my family law practice, one of the most common things I hear over and over from clients who have just had the law explained to them is, "I wish I had known that a long time ago!" Or, "If only I had known that before (whatever) happened."

People entering any form of long-term relationship, whether married, domestic partners, or just living together, are typically unaware that their relationship to each other--and to third parties, like creditors or government agencies--are defined and governed by rules of law, often in ways they did not expect or would not have agreed to had they known. They are not aware of what can happen when events force these rules into play.

Another surprise is that new laws can come along at any time and change your legal relationship in significant ways without you knowing or agreeing to it. And that's nothing compared to what can happen when you move to another state. Rights and duties that you might or might not have been aware of will suddenly become entirely different. Law books are filled with the cases of unhappy people who found out after the fact that things were not as they had thought or wished.

Here are two more things that couples should know. First, couples can make written agreements that change the rules of their relationship to suit their own needs and preferences.

And, second, a relationship agreement can be a positive and constructive thing that reinforces your commitment to one another and creates a foundation for working out problems that might arise in the future, possibly saving your relationship.

It is much better if you do not wait in ignorance for some defining event to spring up and force the rules to your attention. I encourage every couple to know where they stand and learn how and to what extent they can tailor their legal relationship to more closely suit their personal wishes.

Above all, I recommend that every couple enter into a basic Couples Contract and give themselves the invaluable advantages that can be had just for spending a little effort to do it.

Your legal relationships have already been defined

If you are in a long-term relationship and do not have an enforceable written agreement, rules of law define and govern the following important features of your relationship:

  • How open and honest you must be with each other
  • Who owns income earned by either of you during the relationship
  • Who can manage the money and assets
  • Who owes debts incurred by either of you before or during the relationship
  • Who owns property acquired during the relationship
  • Who can be covered by health insurance
  • Who can authorize medical or mental health treatment
  • Who can visit in a hospital or jail
  • Who can order care and apply for benefits after disability
  • Who inherits if there is no will
  • Who is included in the retirement plan
  • Who sees to the partner's wishes after death

You have a choice: accept the rules imposed by the law, or tailor the terms of your relationship in a written agreement to better suit your needs and preferences. You can learn more at www.nolocouples.com.

Simple Tips to Move Forward on the Job. Public Domain Works Are Closer Than They Appear.

0
0

Someone I know wants to move into another job in the same company. It is not a management job.

It's a job as an assistant safety coordinator.

She knows very little about company safety practices at any business. She is ready to learn.

The first task she needs to do for herself is to find out why she wants to advocate and prepare herself for a different job. Without a goal directed toward a different job, and specifically directed towards this one, her energy and focus will be superficial. It is important that she write out reasons to make this shift. They do not have to be lengthy or academic. Clear, direct reasons for getting a different job, and one where she has no experience, are the bedrock of making a serious job change.

Next, does she have transferable skills for the change in jobs? Can she do the work? What does an assistant safety officer do? She needs to "interview" her business safety officer to find out what her/his job is really like. Diplomacy is necessary in interviewing someone in their job when the interviewer is an employee at the same business. Telling the safety officer that you are a learner only is a good way to make that person feel comfortable in sharing information.

It is wise to make this clear in establishing a trusting relationship for both employees.

Making a proposal to the safety officer is a good idea; a proposal about what the other person can offer the safety officer. It can be a mutually helpful relationship over time.

Public Domain Works Are Closer Than They Appear

Searching for public domain works can be a tedious job and take several hours just to find one or two good publications.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of quality databases online you can use to search for public domain content, but are you aware of the places offline you can visit starting tomorrow morning and walk away with a handful of public domain publications you can duplicate.

The best part is you don't even have to purchase the books.

I'm referring to your local public and university or college library.

Public Domain Sources Directory Public Domain Sources Book
There are thousands of public domain books right on the shelves waiting to be revived.

This is by far the simplest way to get your hands on hard-to-find public domain works.

I did a quick search of my libraries database online and found over 20 interesting publications I think will be good sellers online such as "How To Speak And Write German", "The Official Guide To Knots And How To Tie Them", How To Play A 5-String Banjo", How To Star In Baseball", Gemcraft: How To Cut and Polish Gemstones", Kites: Hot To Make and Fly Them", Your Lawn: How To Make It and Keep It", "How To Make Your Own Picture Frames", and the list goes on and on.

Once

you find public domain material you're interested in conduct a quick copyright search to ensure these publications are in fact in the public domain.

Then visit your library, sign out the books and begin using the content. There are companies who offer scanning services relatively cheap so you can create a digital version.

You can also create audio and/or video portions of each publication and sell the videos under your copyright.

So now you have enough information to start your public domain search offline starting tomorrow morning.

Mike Hill is the creator of the Public Domain Sources Directory, dubbed: "The Most Profitable Book In The World" because of all the hard-to-find secret sources he lists inside this incredibly detailed directory. For more... http://www.publicdomainempires.com

Dealing with Difficult People--Go Ahead, Rain on My Parade
Dealing with Difficult People--Go Ahead, Rain on My Parade

"And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow."--Jerry Chin

Rain is vital to all life on earth, and is the main way that water from the sky fills our lakes and rivers, and provides nourishment and growth. Most of the time we do not look forward to the rain, but without it, we will most likely not be able to enjoy luscious fruits and vegetables, or experience the warm and moist feeling of green grass as it cushions our bare feet.

Interpersonal conflict is like a rain shower-a small local burst of rain that lasts a short time. Rain showers are usually of light to moderate intensity and likely to start and stop suddenly. You can predict when they occur by the rapid change in the sky's appearance as they approach. The same is true of most interpersonal conflict--those small micro-bursts of anger or disagreement that seem to flare up quickly and cease just as suddenly.

The aphorism rain on my parade reminds us of the unpleasantness of conflict. Yet, some unpleasant occurrences bring about better things. Conflict develops even among the finest of people. Whenever there is disagreement, a difference of opinion, a different approach, a departure from the way we do things around here, there is conflict. These little showers of light to moderate temper or anger are made to last just a short time. Yet, when we approach them the wrong way (and there is a wrong way), they can become full-blown conflict thunderstorms.

Unlike ordinary rain showers, thunderstorms are rain combined with wind and lightning. They form worldwide, spit out deadly lightning, band together to form hurricanes, and can spin up the world's fastest winds inside tornadoes. Been caught in any conflict thunderstorms lately?

THE REAL SECRET

While we cannot control or change others, we can take responsibility for our own actions, attitudes, and behavior. So how do we respond when people want to rain on our parades? Use The U-M-B-R-E-L-L-A:

U = Understand. Make an attempt to understand as well as to be understood. Don't let the other person's difficult behavior preoccupy you; then you can deal with it directly.

M = Manage. Manage conflict while it is occurring. Look for the real issue which is usually found at the root of the problem. Don't allow yourself to be distracted by minor spats or side issues that distract and get in the way.

B = Breathe. Use a variety of stress-reducing strategies when you are in the midst of conflict. Try breathing slowly and deeply to regulate stress producing adrenalin. Take a break when conversations get heated, and above all, control your impulses.

R = Respond. Remain calm and act in a non-defensive and non-reactive way. The ability to be calm in the face of conflict will help you to think more clearly and carefully.

E = Embrace. Go directly to those with whom you disagree or have a conflict. Avoid behind-the-back criticism. If this fails, then ask an objective third-party to act as facilitator in resolving the conflict.

L = Listen. Be quick to listen and when listening do so carefully. Summarize and check out what is heard before responding. Be slow to judge, avoid name-calling, and threatening.

L = Learn. Examine key learnings from the conflict. Conflict, though painful, is necessary for growth and maturity. Ask yourself, "What can I learn here? Do I need to change my behavior or offer an apology?" Enter into each conflict situation with a learning mindset.

A = Accept. Conflict is a normal part of life, so accept that it will happen and most likely happen often. The people we find the most difficult are also those who offer the greatest opportunities for growth.

WHAT ABOUT COMMUNICATION?

Wherever conflict exists, no matter what its cause or reason, communication has played a key role. Poor communication has either initiated the conflict or kept it going. Good communication will lead to a mutually agreeable solution. It promotes a give-and-take open dialogue that focuses on the problem not the emotion.

We all have difficult people in our lives-you know, those folks of radically differing viewpoints who anger, exasperate, frustrate, and nearly drive us out of our minds! Difficult people tend to rain on our parades. Just when things are going well and we're marching in the success procession, a short but violent conflict shower or thunderstorm will often break out. An instinctive response is usually not the best one because we are caught unawares. So we reply back with a storm of our own, and before you know it, a deluge accompanied by hurricane force winds floods our relationships and ruins our parades.

IN THE END, YOU MATTER...

You are responsible for deciding how you will respond to conflict and difficult people. The U-M-B-R-E-L-L-A along with good communication will ensure that you don't get wet!

So, let it rain...It's Just a Parade!

The Rising Popularity of Windsurfing. Building a Strong Coaching Practice.

0
0

As with any

extreme sport or sport in general, there is only so much one can do on a surfboard. Enter windsurfing, a popular way to gain speed and air by using a sail attached to the surfboard itself. A windsurf setup consists of a bi-directional surfboard with a sail attached in the middle. Windsurfing is not for just the ocean, this sport can be done on a lake should their be a proper wind to propel the surfer.

As with any sport there has to be two factors present when learning how to windsurf. Wind is the key ingredient to take flight. In order to power up your sail you need to know what the wind conditions are going to be. On an optimal day, depending on the wind conditions the wind can be gusting from 3N to 6N. The wind speed greatly enhances the experience.

There are conditions above 15N when windsurfing can be considered dangerous to the surfer. Should these conditions be too violent for the surfer, they should wait until they can properly handle the board. With the right amount of wind and waves, windsurfers can take flight over waves at a high rate of speed. Depending on your experience level, you may crave to hit the waves at higher conditions to maximize speed and adrenaline.

Often a windsurfer will attack a wave head on depending on the conditions and propel themselves 15 feet or more straight in the air. If you enjoy the thrill of hang-time and flight this sport is for you! Windsurfing ranks high in the world of extreme sports because of its high flying action.

There are professional competitions that rank the windsurfer by style and being able to handle monster waves with ease and grace. These competitions take surfers around the world to tame the toughest waters with only a board and sail to display their style.

A windsurfing setup can cost from $ 500 - $ 2000 depending on what you are looking to purchase. The quality of the sail as well as the fabric used to create it will definitely change the price quickly.

As a person who has been around the coaching profession for a number of years, I wish I could say that my practice is full right now. But the fact is that I've been pursuing TV gigs in the last few years and haven't put much emphasis on building my individual coaching practice.

I've also been blessed to receive several corporate coaching and training jobs so the individual coaching has taken a back seat.

But I've recently moved to a new state and have had a chance to evaluate what I want my schedule to be in the coming months. I'm currently working from home so I can be available for my son because he is in school for the first time and I feel I need to be around. I've decided to ramp up my individual coaching once again so I'm making my plans. Since I've done this before I have a plan. I did it in NJ, NYC, and NC and now I'll be doing it in FL. I'm also pursuing corporate coaching and training opportunities.

For these I use professionally designed promotional materials and videos of me speaking and leading workshops.

For my individual practice, I have a website which has attracted people nationally. In addition, I've done speaking in different parts of the country which has brought in clients. This past year I did a few national TV tours and secured a few clients from there. In years past, I've been highlighted in the newspaper or magazines and that always brought interest, but to be honest, mostly from curiosity seekers! I've gotten several clients that were referrals from other clients. But most of my individual coaching clients have come from me doing workshops.

What workshops can a coach provide? We've all heard about branding and finding a niche. That is true to a certain extent, but I started from what I already know. I started where I felt I was already an expert. I was an expert in selling. I decided to teach that, and from that sprang many other courses such as communication, customer service, telephone skills, time management, creativity workshops, team building and so on. Once you deliver a few workshops that you build from scratch, you'll be getting the experience you need to accumulate information for articles, books, workbooks, tapes and other products.

What are you an expert in? Where do your talents lie? Have you trained people in getting in shape? Have you taught people better vocabulary skills? Were you a computer trainer? Start wherever you are, get training, free clients, and the word will spread. Start giving workshops at local community colleges, learning centers, at your church or even out of your home. Advertise ahead of time at least 3 workshops that will be presented. Give out free information at each seminar in exchange for their business card and when you get home, develop an email list where you can send a newsletter discussing your business.

As for me, I'm now in the process of building more workshops to my repertoire. I'll write several new programs this year and start marketing them locally and eventually nationally. Now that I've discovered I enjoy writing creatively, I've started and am writing articles for different ezine newsletters.

Building a coaching practice takes time. It's a process that takes a few months or even a few years, but worth it. The lifestyle of knowing I can pick up my son nearly every day at 2:30 and get to work out almost every day while still adding value to my clients every week has its advantages. There's a lot of work up front, but the personal and professional rewards are enormous.

TPW - Two-way Pop-up Wind Generators for Airport Power Systems. It's A Duck.

0
0

A large aircraft moving down a runway moves quite a bit of air. This airflow moves beyond the width of the runway and can be used to power up tiny wind turbine arrays, which would flip direction after the aircraft hits V-2 and starts to fly, at which time the wing tip vortices are at their strongest point. As these wing tip vortices blow back down the runway they will also give significant airflow back.

These airflows exist on all aircraft and those with swept wings and very heavy are the most of all. In turn these generators will reveal the danger by way of remote sensors back to the tower to advise the air traffic control tower when it is most safe to allow for the next takeoff. Other than the differential in speed a private biz jet puts out little in the way of wake turbulence and therefore a large DC-10 or Airbus 300, Boeing 747 are not really at risk. And the sensors will give confirmation of such while they collect the data and the energy. Here is some additional information on the sensors and this can easily help us to determine where best to put the wind generator arrays.

http://airtrafficcafe.com/wake_turbulence.shtml

These generators could work in reverse for aircraft landing. So they would be collecting free wind energy at all times. Wind energy is good. Just ask Zephyrus, God of the West Wind. Never deny the power of the wind.

Just a thought on innovative ways to use wind energy, it seems that if we are going to create it, we may as well get that energy back when and use it for some positive aspect of our lives rather than wasting it.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck it must be a duck.

In the stock market if there are more buyers than sellers, more stocks are going up than down and the trend of the general market is higher it must be a bull.

Not a duck, not a squirrel, not a possum and especially not a bear. And everyone likes bulls better than bears in the stock market.

The mix of news that feeds this bull is indeed strange as is the economic background. Each day there is a report of "better than expected" earnings, employment, confidence, something. The general background tone is quite negative with huge looming long term deficits yet the market keeps chugging away higher and higher. I like that.

The talking heads on CNBC-TV have been jawboning a bull market all the way down from NASDAQ 5000 and now they have turned cautious. Yes, some of them are now cheerleaders for the new bull (if it is a bull and not a duck). One of them said the market is undervalued. At 33 times earnings? The mean P/E ratio (Price Earnings) since 1800 has been about 14 or 15, but "this time it is different". Really?

There may not be any logic in the market going higher, but I don't need logic when it is going up; I just get on board for a profitable ride. My regular readers know I believe in the trend and right now the trend is up. Don't ask me when the trend will end. I don't know, but I will be watching what Mr. Market is telling me and act accordingly. As long as it has four legs, horns and moos like a cow I will stay with it. When the tune changes - goodbye.

The basic question remains. How do you know when the trend changes? Don't ask your broker as he doesn't know; however, there is a very simple and accurate method that many people have used and I also use to know the general direction of the market. If you have a computer or you can use the one at the library you can go to www.bigcharts.com and type in the symbol for the S&P500 Index. It is SP500. You can then put in the value for the number of days you wish for the moving average which in this case is 200. Click and you're done. This is an excellent way to find the trend of the market. When the price of the S&P Index is above the 200-day line you are a buyer and when it falls below you sell out and put your money in cash. Very simple.

Right now there is a loud mooing sound. When you hear the growl you will want to run for cover.

Al Thomas' book, "If It Doesn't Go Up, Don't Buy It!" has helped thousands of people make money and keep their profits with his simple 2-step method. Read the first chapter at http://www.mutualfundmagic.com and discover why he's the man that Wall Street does not want you to know.
